I've always been of the argument that yes, you always want whatever team you pick to win, but you are going to get bored if your team always wins and always by a big margin and it's not right that if a player signs to be part of a pathway at a young age then that means he has to follow that pathway the whole way, even if his heart isn't in it (ie NZ Rugby sign you and you're playing for the All Blacks or nothing for 3+ years, pal!)
I'm still well confident the Kiwis can take whatever any Pacific Island nation throws at us, but I like that RTS and CHT are playing for Samoa. Same with KL.
As to TMM, I don't feel like he's earnt a relationship with Webby/whoever the Kiwis coach has been since he last played like some players have with Wayne Bennett/Craig Bellamy ie they'll put up with the player's little idiosyncrasies (even if he's not being 100% consisent with that player's team-mates) because he knows the player will put in as and when needed and he's senior which does lend him a bit of leeway.
Had a feeling ever since he pulled out of contention for the Kangaroos that he wants to play for the Kiwis.
Just don’t think he will risk the QLD jumper for it just yet.
Can see him not announcing anything until after next years origin then playing at the World Cup for the Kiwis.

Can't see him making the Origin side tbh. Walsh has the FB spot locked down now. He is the future going forward.
And Ponga probably realises that, Now is probably the best time for him to align himself with the Kiwis.
100% Walsh has a mortgage on the number 1 jersey but I can see Ponga in the 14 jumper.

Speaking of Walsh. Adam Blair said Walsh was thinking about playing in the Nrl Allstars for the māori. Ponga, Walsh, Keao Weekes & Ethan Strange have also expressed interest. Be fun to watch lol

Well, there is no way he is getting the number 1 jumper ahead of Rhys Walsh so unless he gets a utility role off the bench or Walsh is injured, I don't think he will make the QLD 17 next year.

Bit torn on this one- on one hand- fark him he chose Australia- on the other… u want the best eligible players playing and having seen young kiwi kids come through the system in Australia I totally get the lure of playing for your state.
The origin eligibility rules are really unfair and makes it hard on these kids.
