yes, good point. I think I misinterpreted your point when I first read it then got your gist after I had posted and then was too lazy to edit my reply.Yeah but if you have less than $200k then you can’t bid
yep will doOK let's leave out silent auctions at this stage.
@tajhay how would you feel or would you have capacity to program the thread, each round, to lock at a time known only to you between 5.30pm and 6pm each day. We did something similar in past years when I was the admin where you gave me rights over the thread. Except this time of locking would need to be a mystery to me as well. The goal I am trying to get to is reducing last minute bidding. If people don't know exactly what time the thread will lock they will get their bid in earlier and not try to wait to 5.58pm to gezumpt somebody. I want to if possible think of a way of avoiding or limiting gezumpting and this idea is what we have used in the past successfully.
You would also then need to reopen it an hour later each day?
Thanks very much tajhay. Much appreciated.yep will do
I have been thinking about how to communicate this in the rules. It breaks or at least bends the keep it simple rule. One of the reasons I was not keen on distinct minimum bids for the Legends vs the NRL 2025 players was that it was going to complicate the understandability of the rules. There are about 5 or 6 players in this contest who are not tracking daily developments in this thread, which is a big reason why I want to baseline the rules on Nov 1, but I also want to keep them simple.Hey another thought re the compulsory bidding each round, how about if everyone gets 1 round where they don’t have to bid, just to provide a little bit of flex? Once you’ve used up that option then compulsory until you’ve either filled your team or run out of coin.
Only problem with no infractions is that someone might not participate for half the comp & then come in bidding big overs to set their team up with only a few rounds to go, but end of day that’s prob fineI have been thinking about how to communicate this in the rules. Just a conversation - this year with the dynamics of drafting by letters should we have no infractions if people don't bid. Allow people to pass whenever they like? This might make it hard for me to see who is active and actually playing the game but it would make for a very simple rule.
Thoughts Mr B?
If you waited until half the letters were gone before chiming into the game....wouldn't you be shooting yourself in the foot?Only problem with no infractions is that someone might not participate for half the comp & then come in bidding hit overs to set their team up with only a few rounds to go, but end of day that’s prob fine
It wouldn’t be beneficial to wait till half the letters are gone however at the same time it will be detrimental to round masters or anyone else bidding in those later rounds. I’m not super fussed either way although need to be mindful of the time of year & people potentially being away from their screens or even out of internet rangeIf you waited until half the letters were gone before chiming into the game....wouldn't you be shooting yourself in the foot?
What are the advantages of forcing bidding bearing in mind some of them will be spoiled ballot bids?
The big advantage for me is that it encourages posts in the thread and I can see everyone is active and participating. That leans me towards having infractions for not bidding. For example lets say we don't hear from someone for the first six rounds then even though that kent has no chance of winning if they join in from round 7 onwards it screws everyone else up who with their competitive tracking and monitoring of other teams and projections.
I think I am leaning towards you must bid every round and with no one round exemption. I like the idea of the one round exemption. I just think explaining it someone who is not invested in reading the rules carefully and then getting them to remember the rule will be hard. However I will put it in if you think it is very valuable. Would you find it very valuable a one round exemption?
OK I will put it in.I would be in favour of a 1 round exemption. There is going to be a day where some players are going to be busy and away from home or at an event and may not be in a position to bid.

i had so much fun in that game lolOne day we will play the General manager game again but it won't be any year soon. That game was my all time favourite but too intense. None of us did anything for two weeks but play the game for like 14 hours a day. Defence said he was at a hardware store in a queue to be served checking his phone watching new posts come in and the person he was with wanted to know what was so interesting "You wouldn't understand". Haha
