probably something we also need to add to the Metcalf mix is the teams being thrown around are kind of nothings really. Warriors with metcalf are a top 4 team as we’ve seen, and may be able to push a premiership if all lines up.

As hes not really done anything that could still be a motivating factor, he would get good money and get to play finals football.

Also less talked about but still concerning to me is CHT is apparently gonna test the market

Do we want to re sign someone who tests the market? I’m all for athletes seeing what’s out there & getting the best offer. But on the other (potentially deluded), I want players that want to be here.

Not irrespective of money, but if the money is fair, and by all accounts it is, particularly for an injury riddled player, then imo if he’s not all in, then offer retracted. Especially given the context of providing an opportunity, giving him the keys to the team, supporting him by flying to the US for his hamstring and now ACL, not all clubs do that.

I’m personally a little offended that he’s testing the market, but only given the context.

Bloke in a bar made a valid point, the big clubs key players don’t test the market. And he’s been injury ravaged, and we’ve supported him - he’s off it. I feel the same. 800k for someone who’s played 14 good games, is reasonable. Apparently dragons going hard.

I do understand the Aussie wife, his family, kids etc etc but again, if he’s not all in, he can go. We will take a hit short term but it’ll hardly derail the organisation like some people are saying.

For all the reasons you’ve listed is why I would have thought it would be done by now and the compassionate side of speculation continues to be the reason for the potential departure with the closer to family explanation. Things like the giving Warriors gear out while on honeymoon certainly does bode well for an extension but I don’t think it would be on bad terms that he’d depart and I think the club would understand. So hard to know

I've just sold my house, but I made sure I got the reassurance of market appraisals before I set my price.

Business is business.

It ain't personal.

I'm not to fussed if mets leaves. It is what it is.

That's the problem we have with recruiting Australian's. Sooner or later they get homesick.

Unless we unearth the next Shaun Johnson /Stacey Jones , Home grown superstar. This is what we will always have to deal with.

I hope that a one or two of Cleary , Thompson, Linnane , Hanson, Inch can step up & provide the half we need.

Until they get home sick too lol.

Bit of a wait , But hopefully it's worth it. May not be the immediate answer. But I personally believe we have the best young juniors on the come up in the entire competition.

Jack Thompson is the blue print. Sign them before they finish school and they move as soon as they finish. They come over single, integrate with new friend groups over here, get a mrs over here. Soon enough this is now home. Even Cleary / Hanson age might be too late

I'd be happy paying overs for Met to bridge the gap until Thompson, Linnane and Inch are ready to go. What else are we going to spend the money on. It's going to be a pretty disastrous 3 year period while we wait with Boyd, CHT and TMM running the show.
