Politics šŸ¤” Donald Trump

As someone that absolutely hates Trump I have to give him credit if he helped in anyway to get the israel Palestine ceasefire peace deal.
I do think Israel was under intense pressure as the majority of the planet was not on their side.
Mmmm. Not sure I'd agree with that (not that that matters :) ) for some of the following reasons in no particular order
1. Palestine has been smashed. Utterly. Ground to dust. Palestinians too.
2. This has been going on for at least two years in the most recent episode. Historically obviously decades
3. The Americans, under whichever government, but particularly the last two years, could have forced Israel to stop. At any time. They didn't.
4. I haven't searched out detail on the peace deal, but I also haven't seen a lot of detail promoted. So what's actually in it? I'm skeptical there's anything other than "Israel wins everything. Trump gets what he wants. The powers backing Trump get what they want. Palestine will cease to exist ultimately, as Israel will continue it's persecution. The Palestinian land will be completely colonised and stolen"
5. This whole thing smells of a fait accompli
6. Tony Blair is a piece of kaka

The place has been absolutely levelled. Somehow Dick Cheney’s halliburton company going in to rebuild Iraq feels like there could be some similarities? I don’t think this is going to be in the Palestinians best interests

Absolutely not Noitall. This mob in power, the ones on the right, and here as well, have been telling us from day one what they're going to do. The denial is solely on the side of all of us. When Trump said wouldn't it be wonderful to turn Gaza into a seaside resort, he meant it.

Everything he's said, and done, is telling us the truth of who he is. Who the powers are that are backing him.

Who the fascist right are.

Ultimately who the right become.

We'll see similar stuff happening in New Zealand. We already are if there's care taken to look and understand.

They're not even hiding in plain sight now. Not even pretending.

If you really care about the people who have suffered in the Middle East surely you have to be thankful for Trump's intervention, and negotiating skills to broker a peace arrangement. For the sake of the suffering children and people of Gaza, Israel and the other parts of the world I am thankful.
I respect your thinking Boston Boy, see my previous thoughts on Trump's input.

And the same guy alleges that in 9 months he has stopped 8 wars

I wish someone would ask him to name them
Just typical Trump bluster, bravo and exaggeration. Chat GPT:

The list of conflicts he and/or his administration say are on that list includes:
  1. Israel and Iran CBS News+2FactCheck.org+2
  2. Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda CBS News+1
  3. Armenia and Azerbaijan CBS News+2Sky News+2
  4. Thailand and Cambodia CBS News+1
  5. India and Pakistan CBS News+1
  6. Egypt and Ethiopia CBS News+1
  7. Serbia and Kosovo CBS News+1
Sometimes he mixes in some of those from his first term as well. CBS News+1

What the Evidence and Fact-Checkers Say

Experts and fact-checkers have looked into these claims and find they are often overstated, misleading, or only partially true. Key points:
  • Some of these ā€œwarsā€ weren’t full‐scale wars in the first place. They may have been tensions, border skirmishes, or diplomatic disputes. news.am+2FactCheck.org+2
  • Some ceasefires or ā€œpeace dealsā€ are fragile, not fully implemented, or only cover parts of the conflict. Violence may continue, or key parties might not be included in deals. For instance, in the Congo-Rwanda case, fighting with rebel groups continues despite diplomatic agreements. snopes.com+2FactCheck.org+2
  • In several cases, other countries or sides dispute or downplay Trump’s role. E.g. India reportedly denies that Trump had a major role in ending a conflict with Pakistan. snopes.com+2news.am+2
  • Some of the conflicts are ongoing (or risks of re-escalation are high). So ā€œendedā€ is arguably too strong in many of those cases. news.am+2CBS News+2
  • Some of the ā€œwarsā€ are not clearly defined or universally recognized as wars. For instance, Egypt and Ethiopia have a long-running dispute over a dam; but that is not widely seen as an active war during this period.
