Liam Dann has an excellent article that explains we do not have a cost of living crisis, we’re just getting poorer as a country with have a wealth creation crisis.

He compares the price of meat and butter around the world and quotes a Commerce Commission articles showing our supermarket prices are only 3% above the OECD average. More Costco’s will do nothing, but supermarket bashing is populist for all parties.

He finishes, unless we stay focused on boosting productivity, we will not boost real wages. We will remain stuck in an ever-decreasing spiral of lower wages, which we’ll keep describing as a cost-of-living crisis.

I’ve been saying this for years ‘productivity’ and smarter not harder.

This corrupt, hard right neoliberal government doing it's masters bidding.

Okay, seriously, this is important. @defensivebomb it will provide an insight as to how neoliberal policy becomes embedded and enacted through our political system, mostly on the right, formulated externally to New Zealand and promoted through the local neolib thinktank - The New Zealand Initiative.

They are the ones pushing this through ACT and National. This isn't coincidence, it's pure, hard right neoliberalist ideology forced onto New Zealand - no voters involved in this.

Sorry, not that I support ACT but it was part of their policy leading up to the Election meaning the voters knew it was coming up...

Oh, and 3 Waters was never a Labour Party policy before the 2017 Election, yet they still introduced it in 2019.... a proposal you really support.

Interesting, you attack one party on something they campaigned on before the election but totally support the actions off another party for something that no voters were not involved in voting on.
