🤖 Thread Summary

Following the Warriors' victory against the Titans, discussions revolved around individual player performances and the team's overall improvement, with many expressing satisfaction about being back in the top 4. Recent posts highlighted the positive impact of players like CHT and EIT, and celebrated EIT's first try, with BangBro's still banging^46 noting Toeava's comfortable presence in the middle. The return of Rocco Berry was also a key talking point, strengthening the defense and kick chase, as Warriors55 #26 pointed out, hoping Berry avoids further injuries leading into the finals.

A significant portion of the conversation centered on media commentary, particularly criticism aimed at Vossy and Brandy by Zaggo #19 and others, for their perceived bias against the Warriors. However, Kestrel84 #166 disagreed, stating he never felt Vossy was biased towards any team. This sparked a debate about media representation and the team's performance. Multiple users like Beastmode #67 and others called for the banning of certain biased commentators, sydneywarrior92 #34 pointing out that some commentators were "death riding" the team.

Another focal point was the use of the bench and player rotations, with concerns raised about Leka's reduced minutes, as noted by BlackToko88 #66, and whether TMM is the right choice for the number 14 jersey, with this being up for debate. There were discussions about Jackson Ford's potential return to the team and who he might replace, with EIT potentially jumping the pecking order and Niukore possibly sliding, as voiced by Warriorsfan92 #147. A point of contention emerged regarding Tino's tackle on TSS, which some viewed as a shoulder charge while others considered a missed tackle by TSS. Furthermore, the discussion acknowledged the importance of securing a top 4 finish to provide valuable finals experience for the team's younger players, a point emphasized by Makasene #241.

In VERY_RECENT developments, the surprise announcement of Hasler's potential sacking at the Titans caused further discussion, Beastmode #259 playfully referencing the earlier Fafita inquiry with the statement "But is he signed for ‘26????".

NRL ladder predictor is getting interesting now..
I have us in 6th if we lose to Eels and win against Manly with a match up against the Panthers in the first round.
So I hope we really do win our last two games and make top four as I don't see a good outcome if we face Penrith with all their finals experience.

Can you clarify this post? Which other players?

OK. So he is saying that normally Berry arrives too early but due to Boyds flat kicks last night he didn't?

Boyd doesn’t have a high long range bomb like SJ or Metcalf, either it lacks the height or are flat, so when the opposition backs catch it at their 10m, Pompey, Marata, Dallin etc none of them are in sight

Last night however when the other team caught the bombs Berry was on top of them already, IMO with Metcalf bombs Berry get there early and just stops and wait for the tackle, with Boyd’s kicks that arrives quicker he just ran in and smash them with momentum almost simultaneously

Telling you what I saw at the game which you wouldn’t see on tv
The bloke couldn’t keep up with the game could not get back to the ptb and was in amongst the titans a lot
To my eye meter he struggled to put players down in the tackle
I didn’t see that stuff in Demi and Eit
Leka must have only played small minutes
One thing I’ve noticed in him in the last fortnight is he’s starting to break tackles. He had 3 against titans

So who does ford come in for, when he’s available? I know he has some haters but he’s in our best 17, no doubt. Just reduce his mins. For mine, EIT just jumped the pecking order & marata despite having an ok game, slid down. Youthful energy could be our point of difference going into finals, lean into the pressure. These kids are different.
TSS is to undersized for a prop. He tried to go after Tino and Tino returned the favour with interest. Tino targeted Tanner and he started making mistakes.

Ford is a penalty magnet, But he is a solid unit with speed and a handy motor. Doesn't mind the rough stuff. To me its a no brainer. Ford replaces TSS when he is available.

Still dont know how anyone saw that as anything but a shoulder charge tbh (altho thats not where he lost the ball)
One area he and Ford need to work on is stability in the play the ball. Understandable they trying to do it quick as possible, but getting it right is more important. It’s only a new rule
but they’re being consistent with it. One instance was JFH planting the ball and a titans boot knocking it. In between all Greg Alexander’s dribble, one thing he said was correct that good teams can defend their mistakes

I think you have to remember that the bloke is only 21.
Having a look at the list of players who are 21 and younger, forward wise theres very few who have player 10 games this year and averages 30 minutes a game.

The Wahs are actually flush with them tbh - Demi, Leka, Laban and Tanner have been main stays in first grade this year. Outside of Toby Couchman, Finefueiaki and Pasifiki Tonga (who only has 8 games).

He had a poor miss against one of the top forwards in the comp yesterday, which I'm sure he'll learn from. But could be another one of our young blokes that could be on 30+ games (including finals experience) at the end of next year. Pretty nuts really
For that miss on Tino, was Niukore holding out to wide and left the gap? Didn't really seem to be of any help to TSS. I could have that wrong though. I didn't see a wide shot.

One thing that impressed in that game was how we dragged the titans into a grind, a type of game they aren’t at all comfortable playing. They would have started with a real confidence with us making an early mistake and conceding an early try but we had complete dominance a lot of the game. Bottom of the table team, but also a team that ran down the panthers to only just lose and a team that has had the wood over us in recent times. That’s a real mental win not to fall back into the old habits

Tino is smart eh
Titans were missing Jaimin Jolliffe out injured - he is their unsung hero prop prob better than Rcg and Mo.
I think Jolliffe would have noted TSS as a weak link and with Tino and Jolliffe coming after him would have been noticeable

Berry did run back to the other end. I assume he saw out the game as he was down in the 79th minute and running back a little while later.

Now would he have continued if the game still had 20 minutes to go. Don't know but let's hope he is ok and can play next week.

He's being interviewed now so hopefully Halligan asks him about the injury............And no he doesn't.
how the fk gets these jobs im fkd iff i know ..dumb cunt lol

Nuikore was worried about the sweeper (Brimson) as it was a 4 on 3 if they passed to Brimson. Instead Tino gassed it for TSS and went right through him. CNK was the closest to TSS but had his eye on Verrils who was wrapping around Tino.

They had multiple options to score. Tino choose the shortest route.

Not a great looking defensive line though looking at that. I'm going with poor D by Niukore as well. The rest of the attack is very deep and look to be well covered with little space to work with.

I'm sticking with a simple to big and fast Tino vs TSS. Which is understandable. Tanner is the one who missed the 1v1. Marata & Charnze had variables to contend with.

Only caught the game earlier, thought it was a big improvement from prior weeks for periods.
You can say the Titans played shit, but for once in awhile as Webby would say "We got our game on" at least much better than we have been for periods. Which forced the Titans who like to take an easy route, into mistakes.

- Probably the closest we have come to a preferred line up in some time, and it paid dividends. Back three calving out metres, Berry and Capewell helping push each edges line speed on kicks. A good all round team performance.
- Thought we tried to get cute from about the CHT no look pass on the 3rd down on their line with 5 or so to go. Lost our way from that point giving up two cheap trys. But other than that pretty happy given how tedious our games have been of late.
- Find the talk of missing Ford laughable, how about take your aim at Webby for grinding him into the dirt for no apparent reason, seems we can find the rotations for others as shown last night but not Ford? Bit unfair me thinks, and that is 100% on Webby.
- Journo was a nobody muppet and won't be invited back, Des should have given him a proper shorten up. Can't stand all the clickbait bullshit, dude sounded well out of his depth.
- Don't understand the Vossy hate, and thought even Brandy the pleb was good for once.
- Not sure who these 10 game elite props are but TSS is currently fine for mine.

We really needed that performance as team confidence and synergy has been visibly off for awhile.

Hope we can build on that next week, frustrating to be back at dewey Mt. Smart though as it's not working for us.

Doing jazz a diservice there
Much better player albeit more experienced than TSS
TSS only seems to have a small motor which runs out of puff
At the game yesterday very noticeable.
Damn thats a bit harsh mate, For his age and where he's at i thought he ripped in and played well, he made some mistakes here and there but ultimately stood up.

If we were under any illusion the yardage game of our back 3 isnt critical to the way we play, that game shouldve dispelled it.

Rog, Dal and Charnze racked up 546 metres between them! Close to a thrid of all our metres run.
Not just the metres but they usually win the contact as well getting good ruckspeed for the next hit up. Multiple hit ups in the same set means our middles dont have to work as hard and can conserve energy for defence and especially line speed which is huge to our grinding game of limiting opposition yards.

However it does also highlight imo how our biggest strength can also be our downfall.

Couldnt be a clearer blueprint for oppositions on how to shut us down - stop our back 3!

Cant believe Titans didnt get the memo in this. Its what oppositions have been doing the last 6 weeks or so. Titans line speed on those early tackles were literally non existent.....failing to move up allowed Rog n co to get us back over halfway within 3 runs most of the time......allowed us time and again to execute our territory game that Webby loves.

Its why while happy with the performance im not getting too carried away, 100 percent any top 8 team we play wont afford us the same luxury.
that's not just us tbf. The way to stop the dogs and Panthers is also to stop their respective back 3s. It's hardwired into this style of play where you have smaller, more mobile middles with superior fitness. Dogs and Penrith forums do as much bitching as we do about their not having enough size.
