Why should you be entitled to enrol on voting day?
100,000 did it last election and the booths ground to a halt. Logistically we have to get people to enrol early in an orderly fashion. Or else next election we might get 1 million turning up to enrol and vote on the day and the system will fall apart.
The logistics of taking the easy route and enrolling and voting at once just doesn’t work.
