Boyd had a horror game for the Tits where he was getting bullied on the last tackle for like 60mins. Des never trusted him again after that
Sexton another that copped the same treatment there. Interesting he said the same thing as Erin Clark after the game that he feels valued here. Been interested too to hear him talk about knowing his opportunity would come, almost seems like a concession that he knew Metcalf would pickup injury but also hasn’t mentioned Metcalf at all. Not that you’d really expect him to, but just thought there might have been a tough luck for him comment or something and wondered if there’s quite a competition between the two for the position

Good win & a solid debut from Boyd.

You can only beat who's in front of you but can't shake the feeling that we can't go deep into the playoffs without Barnett. The Knights' stronger pack next week should be a sterner test
Not to be a party pooper but even with Barnett and Metcalf and our strongest possible lineup, I still don’t see us competing with the storm. I mention them because I think we’ve got a mental barrier from that particular team. I think we’re a top 4 team, but I just will never feel confident meeting them in finals until we can pickup a victory or two. I thought we’d beaten it with panthers getting a win, but we let them bully us without a heap of players

When push comes to shove

Penrith
Storm
Broncos

All stronger on paper and I would expect them to stream roll us when it matters the most - Finals

Penrith and Broncos wiped us clean easily in 2023. Expect the same this year or hope we can somehow avoid them in the draw at least until the GF!

My main concern coming into the season was the halves. We've had stability there all season as the coaching staff comitted to Metcalf and CHT. We were winning so even with good form from the halves in the Cup side it was unlikely we'd see any changes.

Boyd has bided his time in NSW Cup and made the most of it today. Let's now hope the stability in the halves continues for the rest of the season.

He did well directing the side around the field. Took the ball deep into the line before moving it on. We were always going to look different with a change at halfback.

His goal kicking was also a bonus.

Let's hope he makes the most of it. That will mean we can continue into the semi finals. Also means when Metcalf is back there is another tough debate.
agree, I feel secure with TB, which I didn't feel with SJ or LM, now I can say with complete confidence this is our year, we can go deep this year especially with tana running the cutter. go the warriors up da wahz!

games aren't won on paper, as origin showed. Us, Canberra and the Dogs are over performing this year no doubt. But I think it's important to take the long-term perspective. I don't think any of us really thought 2025 was the window. Rather this year was all about setting up the future. With our youngsters coming out of a dominant NSW cup side that is only used to winning and a two-time winning Harold Matts team further down on the pathways, I think we can all agree that we are a side on the up and that we will only get better.

Even if we don't win it this year, a second top 4 finish in 3 years will give our young guns valuable experience in understanding what is still needed to challenge for a premiership. I firmly believe on the trajectory generated by this year, we'll be on track to seriously challenge those sides in a couple of years (maybe even next year if all goes according to plan).

We've got a good mix of body types coming together in the forwards, Stowers looks like an intimidating sort of dude, comes on like a hitman and makes a difference on D, he's one to watch when his gets his game motor up in next few yrs. Leka's our best wing since Manu, Laban's like a speeding giant octopus who seems to pop up everywhere, must be hard to lock up those tentacles when he's on the charge. Gannon I suppose will add another type of ball playing edge or lock to the mix. One of Erin's best games today, sheer aggression.
agree, loved his try assist for chanel, holding up the pass before eventually passing, not a hand laid on chanel - too much!

Anyone else dirty on the bench use? Ford playing 60+ straight at prop, Niukore looking gassed multiple times while Laban sat there for 60. I know Rocco going off disrupts the plan but jesus. A better team would have stripped us in those minutes where we had fatigue
Yes I didn't get that leaving Laban on the bench till the final 15min ?? the guys played enough FG I don;t think he will let the team down and anything has a better Offload game that most in the pack

Gotta love, Pompey. Such a no fuss, just get it done player.

Can play left or right, centre or wing at a pinch. Solid defender, has come up against the best centres in the league and they rarely do a number on him. Handy attacker and solid goal kicker also.

They drop like flies around him and he just keeps turning up. Bit of an unsung hero in the squad, we'd be in a spot of bother without him plugging gaps continuously.

he needs to find that final pass more though

TT > CNK

Hopefully this stretch solidifies that CNK should not walk back into the number 1 jersey. 250-300 running meters are just counting stats, you need to be able to affect the game in other ways. CNK's best attributes don't actually impact winning imo.

Good debut from Boyd. Shaky tackle 5 option taking for a pure game managing 7 but he will get better as the season goes on. Hopefully he can play himself into a nice 3 year contract with Perth from 2027, would be great the success of this season for us. Rock solid goal kicking,
