On reflection, I think that is also the reason why our attack was so clunky at times for the first half of the year. Since everything revolved around Luke, we really had nothing when teams made an effort to shut him down (like in the Raiders game). He also doesn't have the long passing game that SJ had, which was crucial in putting DWZ in corners in our 2023 season. Tanah's passing game looks better imo. Happy to finally see DWZ in space and demonstrate he's still our best finisher.

Despite the scoreline Mt. Smart is always so slippery with players constantly checking their runs which stops a lot of points. In saying that it worked both for us and against us at times this game.
I really enjoyed the shape with Boyd squaring up and with fast hands out the back in there today, and TT out the back of shape also.
Hopefully Newcastle is a dryish track next weekend, would love to see us really open up with this combinations.

Brilliant Debut ...BOYD I hope WARs mgmt lock him in for least the next couple seasons..not the running game of Metcalf but he's as good if not better kicker esp. at goal and links really well with his outside ...reads the game really well .. I feel at times Metcalf can be less connected with his outsides ... Boyd just clicked tonight IMHO looking forward to next game ..

I like what I saw out of him tonight. He's not flashy, but I'm not sure we need him to be with this team. Especially when you have our freakish juniors carving it up.
Tits really fucked up Tanah's development imo. Just like they screwed with Sexton and Fogarty. He's actually probably what they need right now given they have too many ball runners (Brimson, Kini, etc) and not enough game managers other than Foran who is on his last legs. Well done Des for giving us Erin and Tanah.

i hate to say it because i find his face to be A LOT. but in a few weeks i think tannah boyd makes this team far more rounded and i think possibly even better. goal kicking at 81% or whatever helps too.
CHT has had an absolute whale of a season so far, but depending on how things go id possibly even be happy with LM6/TB7

I like the way our structures look already under Boyd. CHT looks a lot freer off that type of game where he doesn't have to do any of the organizational stuff.
You can see how Boyd will get through the line, he goes so deep that he is in a position to shoot straight through.
We have seen a lot of him in cup, so it was nice to see that same template directly transferred to the NRL instantly.

Our best game of the season. Boyd is an organising half who creates shapes and unlocks his outside backs. Plenty of try opportunities not executed as the outside backs were surprised to find themselves in space close to the line. They will execute next time.

LM vs Boyd is only worth having because you can clearly see the strengths each brings which offsets the others weakness..
TMM v Boyd - I’d say they are one and the same except for the kicking game..

I love your enthusiasm but Tigers were fairly poor I thought. They were worse than last week against the Roosters. I say they are a bottom four team and played like that tonight. I know we probably contributed to their poor handling but I think they are in trouble.
