Team List Warriors vs Panthers - [Round 16, 2025]

So Ivan has decided to hold his trump cards and bluff.
His plan for this game has been in play weeks before the event and the result not only hinges on the players selected, but those who give him the insight to execute.
Failure to win means they accept they can still survive pass this point.
If they win, then like the Raiders their belief in their systems is still alive.

I know Grahan-Taufa is moving on. But he's been a loyal servant to the club and has toiled away in reserve grade. He deserves a run in first grade.

Hopefully, we will get some stability in that position towards the end of the season.

Good to have a team naming Tuesday. It's been a long two weeks. Let's hope it's closed out with another 2 points this weekend.

So if MGT plays instead of EIT it confirms EIT is either A) not NRL ready or B) not a backrow Center utility in the fashion people have been hoping....or a combination of both.
Which is fine, he doesn't have to be NRL ready this week, no shame in it. Just how it is.

Otherwise you don't give the spot to a departing Rookie over the extended contract Rookie in a game against a depleted NRL team.

My sense is they think EIT is not really a serious center option at all and have given up on that experiment in favor of throwing him there one day mid game when a Center is lost in the battle, rather than having any serious designs about him ever starting there in an NRL game.....because if ever there was a gimme chance to have a run at Center for the Warriors for EIT this is it.

Good luck to MGT, hope Charnze has worked out he has to guard him and pretty much not worry about the others this time, just body guard our weak link in formation mate.

NSW cup thread says Caelys Putoko will be playing which you’d assume will be at centre. Either we don’t have enough second rowers for EIT to play centre or Kayliss Fatialofa, or we don’t see either at centre, or they rate Putoko and want to bring him up

Great looking team. Bit disappointed about Healey but not unexpected given Webby's preferences. As others have said, great to get MGT some NRL game time before he leaves. He'll do a job for us there and has been defensively sound in cup I think. If Berry needs another week, give it to him. The team list really does showcase the depth we have in our outside backs. Contrast that with the sharks who are running out of centres at this moment. Also pretty hilarious that almost half the starting team have triple barrel names. Surely we deserve some sort of award for that.

That Panthers backline has holes everywhere. But their forward pack has some regular NRL players, though I'd say we still have a clear edge in the middle. Ivan knows their only chance will be to make this a grindy affair, which is fine for us because that is how we roll this year. Expect this to be a dog fight for the first 20-25 minutes before we pull away towards the end of the first half and into the second.

Unfortunately for Penrith this lineup is not worthy of their 9th position.

This is more like 3rd v 13th (or worse)

If we are a proper top 4 side (which we are) then Penrith have no business getting anywhere near us.

You won't hear the coaches say it but privately they will be targeting a big-margin win

The club has won those finals. This team hasn't.

It's a reserve grade side. We should be far too good for them.
if a Ponga-less Newcastle could beat them 13+ without their SOO stars, I'd be terribly disappointed if this ended up being another 1-12 affair. Need to take the game seriously, but if we come out with the same intent as the Cronulla game, we should be way too good.
