My weekly thoughts from the game:

- Tepatasi Laumalili is the epitome of what the pathways was brought into do. Take a unpolished player with decent upside and turn them into a player with NRL potential. He came into the season as a fringe SG ball player with barely any wraps on him, now he's dominating periods of games in Jersey Flegg. Pretty crazy his rate of improvement over only a few months. Scary to think what he could be in a season or two. He's got to be a priority now for the club in terms of development. And this guy is ENORMOUS. Whenever I see posters in the recruitment thread begging for a big bopper his name should be an automatic response. Easily the largest prop we have produced in last 15-20 years imo.

- Great game from Jack Thompson. What a talent man. How do we hold onto this kid long term?? Hopefully the club has made plans for him to move to NZ next year with him finishing school this year. (Jett was also very good this game too).

- Brandon Norris was targeted pretty hard this week. 2-3 defenders in his face every time he touched the ball. He's kind of been pin pointed as our team's danger man. Again, whoever Cappy has got working in Aus as scouts is doing a great job. He's from Darwin so an untapped market up there.

- Fukofuka needs to stay at hooker imo. He's probably too large to play there atm, needs to lose some kg. But his lock experiment has been a failure. He could be a Siliva Havili with way better ball skills but he needs to make that change now otherwise he's never progressing past Flegg.

- Raph Sio has some wheels. But i'm not sure how functional his athleticism is?? Like he's very clearly fast (maybe even the fastest at the club) but he just always looks so stiff and I don't think I've seen him put a step on thats beat a defender.

Laumaulilii moving up the unofficial prop junior rankings, same with Norris a godsend for the club due to suspensions, regression and injuries. Sio’s greatest asset at this point is availability. He plays like a sprinter learning to play league no wiggle at all.

How tall is he? Bigger than Neal?

2nd year of pathways and diamonds showing through the grades.
Coaching development and appointment just as important as has been well documented this year otherwise it won’t be realised.
Looking forward to how the first grade side looks in 5 years and who has come through the grades and developed into seasoned 1st graders ….. and if we are still signing Australian halves 😉

I don't know what to read into the gulf between our table topping cup side and our flegg side which is closer to the middle of the pack. Maybe they will improve next year when our Harold matts boys make the transition to flegg. But maybe this is the part of our development pathways that still needs work....
