I've shared elsewhere that my inner nerd worked out Bunty's +/- this season & in terms of solely his minutes the team conceded 27 tries & scored 18. Someone challenged this to say that if I would isolate Bunty's first stint, in matches he started, I'd see a reverse in these numbers. Turns out that didn't push his case at all with 14 tries conceded & 12 scored. An overall points total of 64-84 in those combined opening minutes.
By comparison (regular season only), when he played off the bench or didn't play at all, we were 50 points for & 50 points against in the minutes leading up to the first Interchange of a middle forward.
It goes against the commonly held belief that we start better with him & he helps soften up the opposition

unless of course we only start him when we're up against the better packs

Should he be looking elsewhere? Don't feel Webster rates him with the minutes he got and there are upcoming peeps from NSW cup team right?

Not contradicting your stats at all here, but at the start of games, especially in the first half of the year, the whole side looked clueless for the opening minutes, throw in uncharacteristic errors from CNK (not singling him out) we seem to come in cold.

I can accept Bunty is not going to make an ideal 17, which still probably leaves him as a handy depth player for injury cover and to bridge the looming arrival of the NSW cup noobs.

Cces you are officially the ‘Deep Dive’ co-ordinator of NZ Warriors. 👍🏾

Maybe we would have been worse off in those games if he didn’t start.

That is a possibility too.
The 3 games we played against the Knights make for interesting reading.
Off the bench we were down 0-6 when he entered the game. When he started we were down 0-10 when he got subbed. When he wasn't picked we were up 16-0 when we first replaced a middle.

Honestly it did my head in when I saw posters write 'Bunty to start, so that he can soften the opposition up'....He's never been the guy to knock out powerful runs or damaging hits.
I thought it was pretty telling that he was dropped, and Webby came out and said something like 'he needs to own the moments' or get more involved, and he came out and did more of the same, which is a shame.
He seems like a great clubman and I would be more than happy for him to stay on and play that depth/4th prop option moving forward, but hes coming to the age now where he should be in his prime and if he doesn't change something up he'll get left behind
