For what it’s worth my understanding of how all this went goes like this…
First of all u have to understand that playing halfback in this team is considered a plum job- u have a great coach, get to play behind a great pack which just keeps getting stronger, u get to play on the ball and get a lot of good ball in good spots.
Metcalf and his team knew that and he actually knocked back bigger offers to stay with us with the understanding that he was going to be our pin up number 7 marquee man and he was always expected to come straight back into that 7 jersey once fit.
However once fit he was asked to play 6 but reassured he was still the long term 7.
He gets injured again and when he returns is a bit blindsided to be named on the extended bench- and this time when he asked for reassurance he’s told the goal posts have moved and they want him to play 6 outside Boyd moving forward.
In his and his management’s mind he is a better player than Boyd and I tend to agree with that- the thing is being the better player and the better fit for the team is not always the same thing.
Boyd knows the benefits of playing in a strong system better than anyone coming through the ranks of keebra playing behind one of the best junior packs ever assembled only to struggle at the titans in a poor side which is why he was also willing to knock back bigger offers from rival clubs to stay here where he knows he can play his best footy.
Metcalfs camp on the other hand are thinking this isn’t what they signed up for and his best chance of playing his best footy might be in another system which came with the added bonus of moving the family home.
I don’t really see a bad guy in all of this- all 3 parties had a decision to make and made it
The greatest thing is we had two quality halfbacks both willing to take unders to get the job- that’s a testament to what the club have built in the last few years.

The start of a tricky three game sequence. Win and we open up a buffer to the chasing pack after Roosters and Souths stumbled, consolidating top 2.

The stage is set for our origin contenders to have the best game of the season and smash the door down. Expect massive games from Jacko, Wayde and of course, Tannah after all the Metcalf bullshit in the last 10 days.

I just want to suffocate them on their 10m line and squeeze the life out of them. Tire their forwards and win the ruck, and the flashy backs have nothing to play off.

If we win today and knock off the Dragons next week, then that sets up a tasty Penrith encounter for top spot.

    Down the middle boys.

So much deep history vs these Broncos.
Best games of the season when we win (yep better than Penrith coz of the history).

I was pretty nervous yesterday (long two weeks, the un mentionable off field distractions).

Every mini era there are the big three in the NRL. Predominantly that has been the Storm, Panthers, and Roosters. But in recent times the Broncos have pushed the Roosters out of that class and are one of the trinity of clubs frankly too good for us, and the Storm are having their problems.

The seats at the top table are looking take able, I dunno if we quite have the Roster yet to be one of the super clubs, we're definitely getting there, all of us have been waiting for this test, the first time we played one of the powerhouses we ran into a hapless Melbourne how dam sweet was that night!
Forget ladder rankings, tonight is going to be a blood fest, someone is gonna get smashed).

I want a win so bad, so I gotta temper me expectations coz you can't predict which Warriors side comes out of this bye. I would have been a lot more confident with Roger out there I think, his try savers on the edges have been epic, and we need that because the Broncos have the best attacking fullback in the game.

We win by strangling teams, it ain't pretty, it ain't sexy, we don't have those types of Xfactor backs. But we choke you out and throw body punches in the clinch (those little short range Try's we rely so heavily on).

My main concern though is the officiating, it is hard to effect a strangle if you are constantly retreating and hanging on. Shame this game is not a night game, it deserves to have been scheduled the closing game of the tournament (I know it isn't a tournament, but it has that atmosphere and hype).

Instead we get a dead rubber to close things out (wot genius thought that up, I am guessing the greedy bean counters thought that we would draw the crowds in for the Dead rubber and they would stick around rather than void the stadium or just not show up at all).

Come on lads, do this for the 95'vers.

A lot to play for now against Brisbane. Stoked for the 3 lads if true. Wade has been a premier DH for a number of years now, probably slightly behind Grant but within the top 5 in the comp imo. Ford and Barney pick themselves really. Debuting for origin whilst playing with us is the greatest advertisement I can think of for Aussies looking to come over here.

Let’s say you’re the # 1 employee in your place of work and a new guy starts, all of a sudden he starts performing better than you and you see your position dropping down the ladder. You have two choices, try to reclaim that position or leave. Most people will have the attitude to say fuck it I’m leaving. Luke is probably at the prime of his career. He’s got 4/5 years to make a name for himself, make sure his financial stable and support his wife and child. All this hate just doesn’t make sense, disrespect the team, jersey, he can fuk off now etc. I bet most of you if put in his position will do exactly the same. Perhaps it might be wise to stop throwing stones at glass houses and look at the bigger picture.

I can see the #2-100 employees, bosses and shareholders, who spent 3.5 years sending this self anointed #1 employee overseas for the best treatment possible, and he still gets sick every single year and not working 60% of the time, when the stand-in became the top 2 manager in the region, they still offer him an equally important co-manager position at the expense of another most improved employee, then he gets sick again, and goes on local media to say he wants that manager's job, and then leaks to more media about how he can only be the co-manager position for the short term and is sending the bosses a please explain letter

Few days later he auctions himself and only 2 companies came along, and he ends up with the worst company in the region, and his supporters (not the neutrals) now tell everyone that because he has a family, YOU need to keep your emotions in-check otherwise YOU are the problem.

Erin Clark on the other hand..... I just shit my pants thinking about it.

Low key, I bet CHT ain't as chill as he seems...

    I’m Chanel Harris-Tavita—say it right,
The one they iced while you play in my light,
Two rounds deep, I’m choking on rage,
Watching Metcalf scribble his name on my page.

You wear that six like it’s stitched to your skin,
Like you earned every metre, every kick, every win,
But I’m pacing the sideline, chewing the ground,
Hearing your name in every damn sound.

They clap for your touches, your flashes, your flair,
Like I wasn’t the one who carried it there,
Like I didn’t bleed for that strip and that role—
Now I’m stuck here swallowing holes in my soul.

I see every set, every pass that you fake,
Every soft gap you’re too slow to take,
And it burns—yeah it burns—‘cause I know what I’d do,
Turn half chances to breaks… something you barely push through.

That jersey’s not yours—it’s borrowed at best,
You’re keeping it warm while I’m building the rest,
Every rep, every drill, every hit I store,
Is a debt you’re gonna pay when I’m back on the floor.

No words in the sheds, no cheap little swing,
Just shoulder to ribs when the contact sings,
I’ll fold you in tackles, drive you off line,
Make every carry feel heavier than mine.

You got your two rounds—hope you enjoyed the view,
‘Cause I’m coming back harder, and I’m coming through you.

Personally, I feel Luke Metcalf shouldn't be able to wear the jersey again. After everything the team did for him, from the best rehab in NYC to the keys to the team, this is how he repays the organisation. No respect for his teammates, no willingness to fight for his jersey,If TB or CHT go down, put someone out there who actually wants to play for the team, not just themselves, They say there is no "I" in team but seems like Luke has found the "M" and the"E"

So if we are trying to get a player in return for Metcalf, which I suspect could be happening behind closed doors. Who would we actually be interested in from the Dragons?.
Maybe a gun junior because I don’t see a lot in first grade that intrigues me

    We're not getting someone back.

The most important thing in all of these early releases is "what is the best outcome for the club"

The club were not able to get a player back for AFB. Fish was not part of that transaction.

    Barny was a bit different.

In this case, the best outcome for the club was that this was sorted before the next game.

We don't need a player from the Dragons, we need a settled camp to carry on the march to a maiden prem.

Waited a bit to post about Metcalf
    Can see both sides of it;
from Luke’s perspective his shelf life is rapidly expiring and this will be his 3rd club where his progress will have been blocked so I guess he’s looking to finally establish himself.
Club can be disappointed that after the time and patience we have shown with a heavily injured player that he seemingly doesn’t want to be part of the team.
The optics don’t look good for Luke, it appears as a ‘me first’ mentality, the frosty press release from the club doesn’t appear they’re too impressed with the situation.
Personally I was a Metcalf fan but I’m pretty disappointed in the way this has unfolded, it seems pretty bratish behaviour and pretty premature to apparently not want to earn his spot. Running to the Dragons of all places puts things into perspective a bit.
Form can be temporary and I’m still not 100% on the longevity of Tannah’s form at least he’s prepared to put the work in. Luke on the other hand whilst some flashes of brilliance was still very much a work in progress - we are yet to see if Metcalf comes back the same player he was pre injury- it would be kinda funny if he was a dud after the Volkman saga
