    Wahs lost to the Tigers with a new look 1 and 6 and and the Tigers pushed Souths. I’m pretty sure we underestimated the Tigers.

    Some members of this forum are fickle.
    For many up until game time we were 40 pont winners with a championship winning team. And then after the game we want to replace the backline and some of the forwards. And teach the coach how to coach. I think sprinting out of the blocks like we have has made people forget reality.

    Last years issues haven't gone away. We are still short of a right centre. CNK, Adam Pompey, RTS, and DWZ are still our best available backs in their positions. They are all competent tradesmen and individually in a better backline they would shine. Together they are ok. When we are winning up front they look good. When we're not they get exposed.
    Pompey and RTS are catching flak after last night. 9 times out of 10 both do a good job.

    Our forwards have shortcomings that need managing. Leka is not a starting player. Not yet. And he is definitely not a centre. Niukore has experience but he also has issues. Jackson Ford is superman when we are on top. When he's been bashed for an hour he can have handling issues. That's on the coach to spell him before he does. Capewell is getting older. The other young guys coming through are great but they are a long way from being experienced established players.

    We need to cut these guys some slack. Yes they got beaten by what was on paper a weaker team and we were out coached and outplayed. We have done the same to other clubs. We'll learn

    I also think Tanah Boyd may have caused some issues for the club. He has taken a caretaker role and he has shone beyond most people's expectation. The club has gone all in on Luke Metcalf and it is going to take careful handling to get both players performing at their best. But their best may take time to come out.

    We will get beaten this season. We will probably even get our pants pulled down at some stage. But we're on track I'm sure. I'm not expecting a premiership this year. But I am looking forward to the rest of this season and to the next few seasons after this one
     
    I commented previously about us dominating possession in our wins and what would we be like against teams who get a more even share of it. We'll, we found out tonight. That was a terrible performance on a number of levels. Conceding that many points at home is really poor.

    Comments about the conditions on Friday nights at Mt Smart. Both teams have the same and we have had two Friday night games there already this season. We train there. No excuses.

    RTS and DWZ with poor handling errors from kicks and kick returns are a killer. Lot of talk was about targeting the Tigers wingers yet its our vastly experienced ones that coughed it up.

    Metcalf severely under done. You don't want to look at his stats on tonight's game. Will need to improve significantly and quickly. I also don't know if you can carry both Metcalf and Boyd defensively. Both arent strong in that department and without CHT we have both edges under pressure instead of just the one.

    Nuikore on an edge again. I don't like it at all. Isn't agile enough and doesn't provide enough in attack. Capewell can't come back soon enough.

    Too cute with our changes for this game. Can't help but feel the original team that was named would have been better. Webster had made every right move in the three previous games but feels like he had gone backwards in this game somewhat.

    Boyd was easily our best. Still racking up the try assists and pretty much was playing a lone hand most of the game. I think CHT can feel very hard done by.
    Laban also, for the most part looked good too. He is going to be a weapon in coming years.

    I can handle us losing, but not the nature of this one. The Tigers did to us in the last 60 minutes what we have been doing to other teams the last three weeks. And they did it at our home.

    The Storm will rip us apart if we play like this over there.

    Pretty much just need to flush that one and move on.

    We just looked flat across the board.

    Why Vaimauga wasnt in the mix is a mystery.

    And this is why those who say these games shpuld be a cakewalk......jesus have u watched NRL...... any team just has to be 5 % off their game and anyone can be beaten.

    Tigers the better team on the night.....100% deserved their win.

    Actually, I don't think their pack dominated us. Possession was 51-49 and we actually had more post-contact meters. We also had massive blocks of possession in this game where we could have won the game. I'm pretty sure we had way more tackles in their opposition 20 for example.

    This game doesn't come to us not having enough ball, it's the poor execution when in ball. Hard to argue that rushing Mets in ruined the flow of our attack. Our back 3 with bad kick diffusal has been documented by others quite well. Last week, we diffuse all of those. This week, everything that could go wrong, did go wrong.

    In many respects, this game reminds me of the titans game last year we screwed up at home. We just thought we would annihilate them after jumping up to 10-0 and things would come easy. The moral of the story was you cannot take anyone lightly or you will get pantsed as we did tonight. I think we really aimed for the Raiders/Roosters home games and thought this was an easy win.
     
    Congratulations West Tigers and Benji Marshall. Happy for them and their fans, this is an epic win for them.

    Pretty admirable to come over here with their Star player out and give us a hiding.

    As for us. I am not worried one little bit.

    Seen this before over and over again, when you have a lot of players moved around you can get these issues, especially our halves combo's the Warriors are very brittle there, change a player and it is like they have to go back to the drawing board.

    Still, Metcalf and Boyd are great players, we just have to give them time to click.

    Other things that went wrong were signs of having an off night, it is not like we suck as a team anymore, I refuse to believe that, and Our coach is still the same guy everyone was fawning over two hours ago.
     
    • Webby has made this mistake before - changed a winning team. Did we need to rush Metcalfe back in?
    • Boyd was the only one playing with the same intensity as previous weeks.
    • Metcalfe's kicks were far too deep. Not sure why he even had to be kicking. Just run.
    • So many players off the pace this week.
     
    And this is why those of us who have been here for 30 years are quietly amused by the enthusiasm of new members after a couple of wins.
    We actually do have PTSD. And grey hair and trembling hands.
    Beaten by a better team tonight. It should never have been possible.
    But we are The Warriors

    I actually reached out to mosh in the past month to thank him again for his generosity back 13 years or so ago. fun fact nzwarriors.com was registered before the warriors even had a domain name...with the nzwarriors.com domain taken they then had to get warriors.co.nz and then warriors.kiwi

    Pessimistically, lets say everyone in that lineup (barring AKP and Anderson) plays another 15 games this year, we will be running out with 479 more games of NRL experience, than the 2021 Panthers Round 1 team.

    Possible Warriors 2027 Total Games: 1201 (as of today)
    Panthers 2021 Total Games: 887

    That 2021 Panthers starting line up had no players with over 200 games, while we will have one.

    That 2021 Panthers starting line up had four players with 100 or more games, we will likely have five, maybe six.

    The 2021 Panthers starting line up had five players with less than 50 games, we will have one.

    Over the two seasons prior, that Panthers team had lost 2,272 games of experience. While we, assuming we lose all our off contract players this year (barring Boyd), will have lost 2,802 games of experience.

    Long way of saying that I don't think we need to worry about signing a going-on-34 Capewell for next year. It's a lot of leadership lost but its not like its a bunch of kids running out there, and ya need to back the Fords and Clarks or the world to step up at some point.

    Warbrick, Boyd, Anderson would take us to 23 players for next year, upgrade a few young guys, then maybe a Sam Hughes or someone in that 25-27yo/50-odd game range that could add competition to the likes of TSS and EIT for a bench spot and become a leader for the Cup team
