With the spine and backs we have no.

Forwards will be fine in 2025 and the young guys coming through that look like they can play FG are mainly forwards. With our spine Egan has regressed. If he could get back to 2023 form then we have a better chance.

Our halves are just not good enough. Metcalf may kick on but he has only played 23 FG games so still has a shitload to learn. TMM plays some good in patches but he kicks like he has a carrot stuck up his arse. CHT is and likely always will be a journeyman. SJ looks like he has developed Obsessive-compulsive disorder and can only pass and kick the same way in every game.

With our Fullbacks CNK will give us lots of meters from the back but now seemed have forgotten about being a link on attack. RTS will dazzle everyone with his step and the meters he gains but the guy plays like Solomone Kata with ball in hand. I would like to say he sprayed way to much Griptec on his hands but the dude doesn't even look to see if there is someone to pass to. Taine looks promising but is just far too green.

For our backs our Centres are not that bad. I know Ali and MGT had not the greatest games last night but if they are serious about being NRL players they will learn from that. They definitely have the physical attributes to play FG. With our wingers though fuck me they can do some dumb shit. It is like we will only recruit wingers if they have been lobotomised. Both Monty and DWZ have had some brain explosions and our back up for them is a prop.....

I can only hope we recruit some good players but there doesn't seem like much available atm.

Building from Christchurch warriors critique of our wingers I would go so far as to say that is the key to success next year. Let's forget about great speed on the wing - let's get two or three guys who are serviceable at putting the ball over the stripe but the best wingers at the comp on defence. Nearly every game one of our wingers jams in off his wing needlessly and gives up a soft try and we drop our lips and gives the opposition self belief.

Yes I think next year can be our year. It all just comes down to momentum. Winning breeds more wins. Losing you don't learn anything except how to lose.
Bluey's round is round 6. We will know by Bluey's round. We need to be 4-2 or 5-1

None of those players were at the club by the time Webster arrived so using that as your argument towards him makes no sense.

Asi? Whos team just lost 6 in a row?
O'Sullivan who has started 2 games all season, and did not play well in his game yesterday.
Nikorima has had a good season, but so has his team. He's been carried by Katoa and Tabuai-Fidow.

Please don't try and paint these guys as all suddenly being amazing halves.

2025..? After 30 years of following these buggers around, in all their incarnations and combinations, sublime moments and nightmares, progress and failures, pre-seasons and Grand Finals, heroes and villains... I can confirm that yes 👍 the NZ Warriors year will [once again] be Next Year.

I am heartened only by the fact that Cronulla took 50 years to claim their first Premiership. At this point, there's only us, the Titans and Dolphins who are yet to win one. Clearly it is not this year, but it must be about our turn eh..?

So one more time, it's "next year is our year". But note: don't go around telling everyone, because your cred will take a dive - the thing is, they've heard it once or twice before :p

Yes but he still cant get SJ or TMM or CHT to fire a shot. So maybe I do have a point.
By the way add Foran to my list

Still better than what we have

I don't think 2025 will be our year as the term "our year" to me signifies a premiership. If we repeated 2023 than you would have reason to be hopeful. A premiership is more realistic if you are consistent semi finalists.

Now we are in a similar position to 2023. Expectations around the NRL media will be lower and we could surprise. But as far as premiership contenders we are a step back.

We could turn things around like the Cowboys seem to have done. That would likely mean making the 8.

Last year our recruitment helped. This year we haven't been active in the market. If we are going to go to the market now with the news about Tevaga leaving and the speculation about Walker we will be entering a competitive market with a few teams with new coaches wanting to rejig their rosters. Hopefully some guys want to return home or there are teams with cap pressure. Otherwise we are debating other teams cast offs.

How they turn it around will also depend on how they look at the issues. It is easy to say too many injuries. But then there is the rehab and were guys brought back too early. They need to look at everything from the pre season, style of play.

2025 we need to prove this year was an outlier in The Webster Era, not a return to the mean.
Although, really, we won't be able to prove that until we manage 3 consecutive Top 8s.
So 2025 is just the start. But Top 8 is minimum.
Thats why the "hunter turning to being hunted" talk was premature. Noone hunts you for finishing top 4. Noone cares, especially after it occuring once every blue moon. The only team that is hunted are the champs. Noone else. Its certainly not a top 4 team who didnt beat any other top 4 teams last year.

Last year was an anomally.

Good point.
We just got a year of being a faster hunter than we'd been previously.
We're still just part of the barking pack of dogs going after the fox.
Which begs the question of why The Fox is part of the barking pack of dogs - and he's a Bulldog - going after the fox that is the Panthers?
Shitload of confusing animal analogies there! :)

Warriors have been downright embarrassing at times this year, given the highs of last year. Don't see much improvement next year if the squad stays much the same. Warriors don't deserve to be going to Vegas, NRL should pull them out because why would they want to have a bottom-four team promoting their product?

Webster needs to keep his mouth shut instead of being a quote man.

Should have never said CNK is immovable from his fullback spot no matter what.

Who the fuck says that?
