No change to the line up except in the reserves. I can see why you would want to keep the 13 for another game. Coach wants effort plays and they all showed heart. I would change up the bench though if there is more experience there.

Emily Curtain gets one more game for me, it's a short season and you can't give them too much time to play themselves into form.

I'm not surprised to hear Curatin didn't have the best game over the weekend; she has only managed to get a first-grade contract every other year, and not on particularly good teams either..

Only managed to watch a few minutes of the game on my phone while out on Sunday, but liked the energy Maliepo played with, She's only signed for this year at the moment but wouldn't be surprised if the plan was for her to play 6 this year and learn the game, then move to 7 next year when Broughton arrives.

I guess in fairness to Curtain, her edge features a second rower and winger who have never played league, and a centre who hasn't played league in 5 years. Hopefully, they can all step it up this weekend and put some points on the board.

Fans tend to mistake a lack of experience or a lack of road miles for a lack of effort on defence.

Their effort was fine, mighty in fact on a lot of occasions.

The problems with the left edge are being created in the middle.

Easts compressed our middles under the posts, our middle forwards didn't get back into position and were clumped like stuck in the mud, the spacing from there hung the women on the left edge out to dry / short of numbers and facing too big of an overlap to slide and cover.

The same was happening on the right, but Brake nee Blyde was fast enough to cover two players, and Tysha and Payten did their work chasing from inside out to allow their line to slide.

Brakes speed allowed for us to play the Chooks attack towards the touch line.

Ole bone Braker had an outstanding game off the ball, probably player of the match for mine even though Maliepo was doing all the sexy stuff with the ball.

The good news is that we did adjust once in that bad defensive scenario, and we stacked the left during a raid which shut them down. The ingredients are there, but you need six games to put that together consistently (Bluey was right about round six-who knew).

At 1:02 have a look at the Warriors under the posts....from there look at how much real estate the much maligned Left edge have to cover.....It is a really good example of where edge defensive problems start in any form of the code.

Is there any scoop on Broughton expected to move back to NZ? Seems pretty settled in Brisbane.

Was a post in the recruitment thread a week or two ago that Greg Inglis said in a radio interview that she has signed with us

GI’s not it with the Broncos after all so he could be wrong, but he is with Tigers so I imagine they have competed to sign her and lost out to us

What a game.

The Women brining back the biff and the big hits.

Used to be that the Womens game was tougher than the mens in the collision after the mens went sterile.

Good to see the Women's game showing the rest how League was meant to be played.

The numbers Alexis Tauaneai is putting up are crazy.

Round 1, she had 224 metres with 112 post-contact, 22 tackles with 1 missed., then last night she had 215 metres, 92 post contact, 5 tackle breaks, 34 tackles with 2 misses

Played the full 70 minutes (dumb btw, make it 80, 35 minute halves are yuck as) on the edge in both games too, still just 20 years old.

Good on Brayden Williame going 2-0 off rip as well

Yeah the thirty five minutes is Aussie inverse sexism.

Tryna do the right thing by the Sheila's like it is gonna make a twig of difference.

It will go.

Brake showing just how classy she is today — a try, some big breaks, and sharp defensive reads. Takimoana also looking much improved already; great to see that development.

Parra aren’t pushovers either — knocked off the highly rated Sharks at Shark Park last week.

That run she took from dummy half in a half break looked like the ideal way to use her speed. Hard case that ladies had the same round 1 score as Warrior men. Would love to see them go on a run like the Men’s team did
