Pick Your Team Warriors v Cowboys - [Round 9, 2025]

We should fear every team. Every team have some good players. But they all have weaknesses too. In the case of the cows, their weaknesses line up well against our strengths. Regardless of what the odds are for this game, we should disappointed if we don't win this one. Cowboys are a dangerous side, but they aren't Melbourne or Brisbane. These are the sorts of teams we need to be beating away from home if this is truly going to be a top 8 season.
I'd be more confident if we had Fish up front, but we look pretty even on paper with sort of opposite strength areas as you say. Forgot about Taumalolo, he looks damaging again lately. And Jake Clifford. Uh oh.

This is my opinion, but I think this is going to be like the tigers game. We have the superior forwards (even without fish) but they have the faster backline. So it's going to be another battle between power vs speed.

We are building very nicely. We aren't the finished product but we are getting better every week whilst other teams are regressing. Best of all, we are doing all of this with a noticeably understrength side all year. Yet the most amazing thing is that no one in the Sydney media seems to be noticing. If the tigers were performing the way we have been, we'd never hear the end of it. But that's ok because as I see it, we are timing our rise almost perfectly. Winning this is just another step.

I think it’s wild but when both wingers return I think there is a chance Ali could be the one playing Cup cuz Pompey is playing really well on the left and defends better and Webby wants Berry especially when Dallin’s there, and Ali while a beast on the right just is less effective on the left for some reason

Do players have different tempo stepping or running diagonal lines on different sides of the field? Maybe CHT is having trouble finding Ali. I do like how Pompey/Capewell/Ali combined for those tries in the Knights game though. Or they could keep Ali since their goal is probably a RTS/Ali combo but then I thought why did Pompey play left instead of right with Taine, is he actually the incumbent on the left?? Good problem to have and Ali does show up in some highlights of opposition tries so still need work ons and Webby/Fish are big on D this year
There’s no way Ali should be in cup. Ye he’s looked quiet but he’s not getting any good ball.
I think his ego is a point of difference too we have to many humble fellas

Just had a glance at the draw and of the next six rounds we only play once in NZ!
One thing in our favour for this coming game against the Cowboys is it's being played at Suncorp and not further north at their home ground..
Yes the warriors have hard middle second of the draw with lots of travel

This is going to be a tough game but it is very winnable. We've beaten several teams this year with much more lethal attacking shape than the cowboys: ie Brisbane, Manly. Both sides incidentally beat the Cowboys convincingly earlier in the year. So I think Webby knows what needs to be done to come away with the 2 pts here.

As with those previous games, we can't allow this game to devolve into a rendition of Auckland Nines. Tits did that yesterday and it played right into the cowboys hands beause then it becomes a game of who scores more pts. They clearly win that battle with their more established attacking structure. Gotta turn this into another old fashioned grind where we have the upper hand with the stiffer middles. Getting DWZ back will be very helpful for this game with his bullocking runs.

We might get some assistance from the big fella upstairs: It looks like Brisbane this week is forecast to have some cloudy weather with some rain.

Magic Round is the opportunity to right the wrongs from Vegas. We got caught up in enjoying the Occassion there and forgot that we had a game to win . That experience alongside last years memorable win against the premiers at Magic Round should mean we hit Brisbane in a confident mood.

To that end, not too many changes will happen from this week - dependant on who may come back in off the injured list. There is talk that DWZ may be close but the smart money is on him and RTS to come back via Cup to get some match fitness under their belts. But that may or may not be this week. Fish is probably lining up being back for the Dragons or Sharks. But knowing that guy what’s the bet he’s named on an extended bench this weekend?

I’d have this team assuming those three remain on the injured list.

1. CNK
2. TT
3. Berry
4. Ali
5. pompey
6. CHT
7. meltcalf
8. Barnett
9. Egan
10. Niukore
11. Halasima
12. Capewell
13. Clark

14. Demetric
15. Afoa
16. Ford
17. Laban

It always gives me the shits when Aussie teams complain about travel as Manly/Canberra have done in recent weeks. Have them travel internationally every 2nd week, losing a day of weekly training and recovery in the process before they throw stones. In this case, I hope the boys plan to spend extended time in Aussie during this period to acclimatize themselves. Winning games in Aussie against improving opposition (Cows, Dolphins) will be very important later in the season.

DWZ and RTS will come straight back in. There's no way they play cup.
