General Warriors Preseason 2026

I actually like the Bellamy approach during pre-seasons. Not sure if he still does it but I remember it being mentioned years ago that in addition to the military style camp preparations, he would send his players out to the construction sites or work other muscle jobs part time. Not just for the physical toil but also to keep them grounded in the real world.
I'm pretty sure that is mainly just for new recruits. Think it was their manager who would organise it and get a report, pass that through to Bellamy.

Can't recall who it was maybe Inglis or another high profile player. The report said he better be a gun player cause he is a shit worker.

Most of it is to check their work ethic.

Someone posted an article about Tafua from our development system working night shifts. I mentioned Gould telling a story about Moses Leota nearly getting sacked as coaches though he was slack turning up to training late. Turns out he was working long hours then catching the bus/train from across town. I suppose you get a similar thing to the Storms system with some of the younger guys when they are supplementing their income. You can see their work ethic. Also like the Leota situation there may be other things going on affecting their football/training.

Webby said rd 7 in that interview on DSPN a few weeks ago.

That podcast was recorded before pre season. It hasn't been officially stated by the Warriors yet though, but it looks like his training is going well looking at the pre season photos.

I'm pretty sure Metcalf could play round 1, but it's about conditioning requirements rather than actually being unable to play.

Oh damn... It looks like he was there for about a week as well (if you check out his instagram page). Training with the boys. Can't think of another time the warriors have just invited a current all black to training for a good couple of days? Especially one in a position we need like center/wing...

Would be a massive surprise if he left union as the world cup is just about to come up. And although i don't watch much of it, i'd be surprised to see anyone drop from the all blacks squad to switch codes.

In full kit too. I reckon he’d crossover well. Powerful ball runner
