You haven't been hanging around the politics threads?Just a general comment, but isn't it great to see the action on this forum pick up again after what seems a real long off season and no real Wah's headline news (bad or good) or 'big' signings to pull to pieces.
At this point the club seems to be well in control of their responsibilities. Only 2 weeks to go until the first trial. Superb!![]()
Is Mellars purely a wing option or can he play centre? With the Berry news, it would be great to have more options if we lose any more centers throughout the season. Don't want to have to put Capes there again for any extended period.
Word I heard is that Caelys Putoko (?) is the guy the Warriors think is the next gen superstar. 20 year old, age group superstar. Not in the top 30 though, so not this season.who are the centres this season? Berry is gone for now and I would suggest he will never be resilient enough to get through any season. So Pompey and Leiatutua but he is also brittle. My vote is Halasima to centre on the side of his choice and locked down to give him some confidence that's his spot. He is the x factor player to build the backline game plan around

Hi Warriorsfan92Wing
I hear yah but I was pretty pleased with the article about the race for wing spots.I can't believe the herald charges for what is Speculation at its finest. No better than what we would've said if we'd heard webby speak.

I'm not a fan of Leka to centre. Don't throw defending quick centres into his world, and definitely don't throw the mental load on defending on an edge with the likes of Dallin, AKP etc. Could absolutely handle it with the ball, but he's too good as a 2nd rower for me.
Just have to hope Ali is fit, otherwise geez we're thin. You'd have to think it'd be Capewell or RTS there, there's no other options. CNK, no thanks
Came across this on the LU forum. Not sure if the poster has some inside knowledge?
Ali was just becoming a dangerous centre and striking up great chemistry then we moved him for Berry. Kept him on the other side most of the year waiting for Berry to come back. I hope we don't make the same mistake. Not sure why he prefers Cape and Roger at centre over CNK who's a legit international centre lol. The first 2 have either failed or worked well until other teams worked out to make it a bust eventually causing Leka to play there in the playoffs
I'm hoping for CNK but if Ali ends up given a shot it'd be more exciting than risking Berry or having another 2nd rower plugging the hole, he did start out gangster on the right last year
Nah. Heβs probably 4th choice wing, so will only debut if thereβs a couple injuries. Good player, young, offers something different (aerial game), but a year in cup & our system will be the best for him imoHi Warriorsfan92
Any mail on Mellars preseason. I have heard lots about Khan Perera but not much about him
No Websterβs just said that AKP is doing well pushing for a first grade spot. Berry has re-injured his shoulder so will miss the beginning of the season. Taine broke his leg so has missed all of the pre-season but should be ready by round 1Im thinking that CNK is probably guaranteed a spot in the team this year.
For me, I think it depends on the rest of the make up of the team, especially now that we have another option at wing with AKP.
For me, if Ali or Rocco is fit imo it means that CNK has to be FB, which would have a backline looking something like this:
1. CNK
2. Dal/AKP
3. Ali/Rocco
4. Pomp
5. RTS
If Ali and Rocco arent ready, maybe it means we look like:
1. RTS
2. Dal
3. CNK
4. Pomp
5. AKP
We're quite far along in preseason, does anyone have any answers for me re: the below questions:
- Has there been any word on where they're hoping to play Linnane or Inch?
- Do we know how Rocco and Ali are tracking?
- Has there been any confirmation of RTS training at fb, CNK at centre, or where AKP has been utalised?
- Any potential smokies for the outside backs?
I regret it every time I go there for a lookYou haven't been hanging around the politics threads?
That's where the real off-season is.
