General Warriors Injury Thread 2026

For those not in the know:

In 2000, when the Auckland Warriors were owned by the Tainui tribe, the logo was modified with the tongue of the tiki being straightened as a curved tongue is believed to be cursed.
Isn't there also a difference in which way the tongue is curved? My admittedly very dusty memory of Chris Mirams' "Warriors: From Dream To Nightmare", which I do recall had all sorts of easily verifiable facts wrong so you had to have salt handy while you read it, the implication was the curse was worse because the curve was to the right...

Can the forum institute or bring in a system that auto-corrects in any post the letters a, c and l with x, as those three letters are definitely cursed? :)

Great that we have depth but Pompey will provide about 60 less metres per game than RTS provides. Chuck that on top of the loss of Boyd's long kicking game and we ain't going to have the territorial advantage that we often have had
Yeah I think RTS is a massive blow. Would Pompey have the mobility to get to Warbrick to make that tackle? It’s a high class piece of out backline now missing

He probably runs past WW and falls backwards to try to tackle, been doing that a bit this year for some reason lol

yeah, I hate this for the team - i was huge on the rts back to centre train, after being initially very skeptical, he was genuinely dangerous alongside cht and akp - it was starting to hum

absolutely have to win it for the man now

SJ & Benji were quite elegant & smooth with the way they side step.

Roger was rapid!! The strain on his knee must of been something else compared to Sj & Benji. Plus he is heavier.

He steps with such force and quick changes in direction would subject his ACL to micro stress. And over time cause multiple micro tears. I'm amazed he only done his ACL twice in his career. Same knee!

Devastating for Rts and us fans to see him go out like this. Hopefully we win our first premiership and he gets a ring with us!

Explosive step ala Derrick Rose it is crazy he wasn’t injured more often

Sorry for RTS and Boyd. We should expect a few season ending injuries every year - that’s footie. But I believe in our depth and our connection. We go again with the guys replacing them stepping up. It’s the power of the collective that wins comps, not individuals. Boyd and RTS will be contributing from the sidelines and are very much a part of the next 17 weeks

This is exactly where I saw the need for Metcalf. No rush. We'll incur injuries and we don't want him playing anywhere near every game. Just bring him in about halfway so that if he gets into his groove it will be max Metcalf mode around the pointy end of the season.

Pack your long sprigs everyone. Muddy wet grounds aren't a new thing. Have those long steel sprigs like the All Blacks used to use on the backs of opposition forwards.

Can we retire him early? Get someone else?

Is Linnane even eligible? These ideas to just stick young inexperienced dudes in first grade are crazy talk.

So was Roger gonna collapse when he steps again, if he didn't make that season ending tackle?
