I side with Queensland during SOO. This is because I used to follow Broncos before Warriors were part of the comp. Some other grub can open a NSW thread ;)

NRL site has article stating that Cam Smith thinks Justin ONeill could fill the wing spot instead of Yow Yew. I don't think so, Cam Smith just has to talk up his teammates.

1 Slater
2 Boyd
3 Inglis
4 Hodges
5 Tate
6 Thurston
7 Cronk
8 Civoniceva (Been there, done that)
9 Smith
10 Matt Scott
11 Nate Myles
12 Thaiday
13 Corey Parker

14 Prince/Cherry-Evans (If fit)
15 Kasiano/ Matt Gillet (depends where Kasiano's allegiance lies)
16 Hannant
17 Lillyman/Harrison (They probably won't go with Lillyman for game 1, not enough game time)

if fit Ashley Harrison will be there and Tariiq Sims is a NSW player.

Also Daly Cherry Evans or Ben Barba will be bench utlity.

Queensland will herald the end of a legend’s career and the beginning of another’s with coach Mal Meninga naming Petero Civoniceva and Matt Gillett in a 19-man squad for the opening game of the 2012 State of Origin series.
Last year it was the emotion-charged farewell for captain Darren Lockyer that inspired Queensland to victory and the send-off theme is set to continue with the Maroons’ 30-game veteran, Civoniceva, to play in his last ever Origin series.
Civoniceva announced last week that he would retire from rugby league at the end of the season, but the selectors had no hesitation in picking the 36-year-old to line up in his 12th consecutive Origin series.
Twenty-three-year-old Broncos forward Gillett was just 12 when Civoniceva made his debut for Queensland and will now make his Origin debut alongside the iconic forward, after winning the race for the utility spot in front of Manly halfback Daly Cherry-Evans and Bulldogs fullback Ben Barba. Cherry-Evans has been named as 18th man.
Cowboys centre Brent Tate won the vacant wing spot after incumbent Jharal Yow Yeh’s season was ended in a sickening leg injury in Round 4, while Queensland selectors also made a statement by sticking solidly behind Darius Boyd who was picked on the other wing despite heightened speculation about his form.
The scene is set for a brutal and bruising opening encounter at Melbourne’s Etihad Stadium on Wednesday, May 23, with Queensland naming a monstrous bench containing Gillett (104kg), Rabbitohs tearaway David Taylor (122kg) and Australian enforcers Ben Hannant (106kg) and David Shillington (114kg).
Queensland's 19 man squad:
1. Billy Slater
2. Darius Boyd
3. Greg Inglis
4. Justin Hodges
5. Brent Tate
6. Johnathan Thurston
7. Cooper Cronk
8. Matthew Scott
9. Cameron Smith (captain)
10. Petero Civoniceva
11. Nate Myles
12. Sam Thaiday
13. Ashley Harrison
14. Matt Gillett
15. David Taylor
16. Ben Hannant
17. David Shillington
18. Daly Cherry-Evans
19. Dane Nielsen

Major Talking points:
• Brent Tate wins the vacant wing spot
• Darius Boyd retains other wing spot
• Petero Civoniceva to get the send-off he deserves
• Matt Gillett to make Origin debut
• Queensland have a monster-sized bench
• Corey Parker not picked – Dream Team fans rejoice.

Pretty much what I picked, but then again the team picks itself. Seriously, I can't see NSW getting up over this team. I am a QLD supporter but how long can this run last and is it actually good for Origin?

That starting pack doesn't look as strong as the NSW pack. Though that bench is incredible. Gillett is a good selection, he'll be around for a while and can play centre, has great ball skills. Happy to see Turtle in on the wing once more, and Nielsen sneaks into the number 19 jersey. QLD for the win.

just look at that forward pack! that is where I think queensland definitely have the edge over nsw. I like the look of the Queensland bench too seems like there will be way more impact. The bubble will surely have to burst at some point but hopefully since I'm a queensland supporter it can roll on for another origin series victory!.

Does it really matter what QLD puts out? NSW will win this series 2-1. I like Stuarts passion for origin/internationals, and I firmly believe that he is instilling a culture where NSW doesnt go into the series mentally weak, overawed by their on-paper better opponents.

I hate Meninga with a passion (his wife works with me so this is my only chance to let my views really out ;))

Did you also enjoy the culture he instilled in the Kangaroo side that lost to us in the 2008 WC final? ;)

Nah QLD 2-1 again.

Maninga must feel like he has the best coaching gig in the World. The greatest Depth In Qland history versus N.S.W. with no one looking likely to ever be as good as a Brad Fittler or Andrew Johns.

What about his sunday footy show interview, basically " I'm a rubbish coach but I'm smart enough to have good ones around me". Also lucky to have some of the best ever players seemingly always injury free and available every time.
