Team List NZ Warriors v St George Illawarra Dragons - [Round 12, 2026]

There's also the distraction that would've resulted from him playing against the club he has just signed to go to. It would've been very strange and too much pressure.
Yeah I wondered if the ‘early release’ still being negotiated and contemplated / alongside the lack of match fitness / alongside a pending medical result/ alongside the optics and pressure all added up to make leaving him out the only rational decision. This way we get to see the team operate without Tanah while they slow bowl the early release convo and we keep our cards till it suits us to let him go?

I'm with you.

The club controls not only the narrative but also the way forward

Or...

a) the fact he did his medical for Dragons today to finalise his contract with them.
b) has not trained with team for 2 odd weeks whilst sorting his situation out
c) needed to get his medical sorted out before being named to play by the warriors
d) all of the above

People are just jumping to conclusions. He may have made rash decision judging by what has transpired, but at the end of the day he is with the Warriors for the rest of the year and we will need him if he want to make a play for the title this year.
We had it stated after the game on the weekend he wouldn't be playing this weekend. I thought it would get some discussion on NRL 360 as it is topical.

Riccio seemed across things. Anasta seemed confused. He isn't injured, so he should be ready to play "How long does he need?".

Riccio mentioned that when the Warriors flew back to NZ. Think he mentioned Monday and felt they didn't have time to get him ready or assess him. Also, what he stated about light activities while getting cleared for a contract makes sense.

A lot of the NRL media forget we lose a day travelling internationally.

I wasn't expecting him to be named this week. If he isn't named next week or against Penrith. Or worse still the Sharks after the bye. Then we have reason to speculate.

That would seem the more likely to me at this stage, rather than some miraculous version of Metcalf 2025 coming in to lead us through a finals series and potentialy a GF appearance, but stranger things have happened.
Tin foil hat, its an immediate release with conditions he can’t play against us. Both clubs just waiting for after this game to avoid the drama

Yeah I think its either an immediate release after this week, OR he plays the first week after bye.

If Luke hasnt had many reps and this week he's still been partially sorting his shit with Dragons, it would be pretty stink to start him in Cup with hardly any reps at 7. Equally, if hes only had half a week of prep this week, playing him in the top team away, against Panthers would be potentially the worst time to take the reigns at 7. If we lose then hes going to get all of the flack. Also gives Webby a little validation if we lose to Penny with TMM at 7, would be easy to say we wanna see how Luke goes behind this pack for the next first grade game.

Imo Luke to play half in Cup nek week, then has the week off and back with the main team and either starting 7 or on the bench in first grade after the bye

rumour has it the wahs doctors reported after his latest injury setback that his ligaments are twingling vines.. so good luck to whoever forks out for him

I can’t help but think about this post I saw on sharks forum last week and wonder if he might not get through a physical?
Ah the old twingling vines disease.

First broke out on a cruise ship of the coast of Equatorial Guinea, seems to have a strong affinity for bonding at the cell wall of cheap and grubby keyboards.

I have it in me loins, it acts up on date night.

Get that checked if it started on a cruise ship. You could be our first case of hentavirus

And the reality is we probably are going to need him this season at some point.

I don't think there is a chance we release him this season.

I do think that he will end up playing cup for at least a game or two. I think TMM will likely have the 7 spot for the next two games and possibly longer if he goes ok there, but I don't have any confidence in his body to get through the rest of the season, particularly the long run of games after our last bye. I also don't think Metcalf is going to be that good for us if he plays. I think we will look very clunky and disorganised at times, much like we were for most of last season. I think he is quite a dfferent style of player to what we have with Boyd and TMM, and defensively weaker.

If we were to release Metcalf, we are one injury away from CHT being the man or Jett being the first grade 7

I asked A.I coz I know you respect it's accuracy.

Surprisingly the origin is in fact sound, Twingling is Muso slang for the spiralling and twisting tangling up of headphone cords and the like.

So there you are.

There is a logic to Twingling hamstrings, and somehow Luke Metcalf has managed to tangle his Left Hamstring with his right hamstring, one hopes it doesn't spread up his leg (leg singular, to tangle one hamstring with another Metcalf has become so deformed he has one leg, a monobrow limb if you like).....

where was I? ah yes spreading twingling up his leg could cause twingling of the balls, now I am no medical expert (that would be @ToiletDuck) so I'm guessing Luke could be out for a while?
I looked it up in one of these old-fashioned things called a "dictionary".
