Sharpe in doubt for Saturday according to knights forum
if sharpe is out they are dusted.. im still weirdly uncomfortable though, theyve had solid wins against poor opposition, weve had great wins against good teams that we have made look poor. on paper we should win but PTSD is rooted deep, i dont think im ever fully comfortable leading into a warriors game haha

Saw a post where Crossland was training at 6 so probably means he’s out

I have Luke Hanson down for a try on debut. I can see him finishing a Leka half break with some support running.
I wouldn't be surprised if he scores off a dummy and run, surprises the defenders with his pace. Halasima on that side is a good decoy to distract the defence.

Not saying he's at the extreme end for pace. But, he has enough over short distances to keep the defence on edge.

Oh crap. This is the bloody stomach flu game from last year, isn't it?

We really should put these guys away, given our form over the first two weeks of the season.
It’s funny how the Aussie media are saying that we should struggle as it’s our first away game of the season. We’ve played better over in Aussie than at home in recent years and always have a strong contingent of fans in attendance that are always louder than the home fans 😂

A lot will be made about their injuries. Fair enough as their two playmakers take up a lot of their salary cap. Then add Sharpe to it and they have their preferred 1, 6 and 7 out.

They have impressed under Holbrook, so we still need to perform.

We have our own injury concerns after last week. In the past, I'd be more worried we'd slip up. One thing we should be proud of the last few years is the team has been pretty consistent. There also hasn't been a drop-off in performances between home and away. If anything, we have better in Australia.

The main thing is that everyone does their job and we maintain the standards from the last few weeks.

Yes the Aussie media will probably forget we are missing our first choice 1, 6 & 7 as well. I think our replacements are probably overall stronger than thier spine. Crossland has been training as a 9 until now so Hansen as a specialist 6 and with his combo with Boyd should hold his own.

Who will play hooker for Newcastle? We should have a massize advantage at dummy half with Egan and Healey.

even if Sharpe is out, we cannot take them lightly. I recall they were literally s****ng themselves with gastro before our last game at MacJones to the pt where there was a doubt they could even field a team against us. Yet we had to rely on a Leka special that day on FT to get the win. There is enough strike in that Knights to worry us. Hope the boys are going for the kill on Saturday. Hopefully Boyd doesn't have any trauma about the choked penalty attempt in that game. He has come a long way since then.

Their outside backs worry me. Hopefully they won’t have the opportunity to be a factor in this game.
Chooks had a more scary backline. Yet it didn't matter because they barely entered our red zone because of the mauling we gave them in the middle. I suspect this game will go like the Manly vs Raiders game. The parochial crowd will probably give them momentum early. But if we stick to the plan and absorb everything they throw at us, we should be able to wear them down gradually but surely over the 80 minutes because we are way too powerful for them through the middle. Just gotta be patient and play the full 80 here.
