Makes me wanna buy more merchandise 🤣 Good on Hanson. Thoroughly deserves his shot. I've been waiting for about 3 years to see what he's truly made of. Hope he gets a decent crack. Probably shitting his pants right now. Nobody wants to be the weakest link right now I'm sure. If we somehow lose, he'll be the low-hanging fruit for critics.

Good luck blondie!

Yes good luck 👍

I was under the impression that the Warriors had retired the number 19 jersey for the Mad Butcher. I love the sentiment but it makes Team List Tuesday annoying as hell.
Yeah it was fine when it was only ever 1-17 on the team list.
If a jersey was retired for him today, it definitely wouldn't be #19
I wonder if we can un retire it and retire jersey #95 for him instead.

Hanson has a great running game. It's awesome that the 1, 6, 7 and 9 of the NSW state championship winning side from last year is in this game (all starting except Healey off the bench). Bit nervous about defense on his side but if our forward pack can protect him, I think his speed and running game will be an asset on Saturday. Just let Tannah run the reins and Hanson can skip around in support like TT whenever we create ruck speed.

I didn't see much news on CNK, so was execting him to be named and Hanson maybe on the bench.

Well done Luke Hanson. First start in NRL.

We want to be a development club and we had success in NSW Cup so guys deserve a chance when the opportunity arises.

Barnett must be close to being ready. The last few years they have been naming guys when they are close just in case they can pass late medicals.

Its not just this year. Its been happening all along. I.e last few years 18 man lineups are only confirmed on gameday. Extended teams were named on tuesdays. There was no 19 there due to the retired number. Its a lil annoying.

I agree with the sentiment though. Give him jersey 95 for his patronage.

I don't know what you been smoking. He's got potential but better than those two? Unmm. Sounds emotional
He hasn't got the runs on the board yet, but was carving up last year before that freak injury. Was also the best on the park at Vegas. Such a shame he seems so injury prone.

their starters are ok (JSaf and Mooney who has been good). It's just their bench is not great. I suspect that they will try to ambush us in the beginning with the parochial crowd behind them. I wouldn't be surprised if the game starts off like that Manly vs Raiders game where the away team (us) gets shafted by ref at the beginning. So if we can hold our own during that start, I suspect we will start to dominate after their bench and ours comes on after the 20-25 minute mark. That's around the pt when the game turned against the Raiders and when we pulled away from the Chooks.
I know what you mean. I call it WFSF, Complex Warriors Fan Sinking Feeling. Symptoms include but not limited to: feeling that our bubble is about to burst any time now, expecting refs to pull the rug out from under us, 50/50 calls going our way 1st half then realizing it was delusion as ref leaves the worst call for last as we lose by an unfathomable rare penalty, throwing darts at pictures of Ashley Klein, and screaming in your sleep "6 again, not 'no sex again".

Excited to see Hanson play, we’re down on key cattle once again but it doesn’t seem so deflating this time around, we’ve got the talent to cover, I’m not even sweating on anyone’s return from injury…..looking forward to this match

Matter of fact there’s some juicy match ups this round, especially the first four and Wests & Souths

It's easy to look aces when you're in the perpetual wooden spoon team. I agree, he's got a lot of fizz about him. But if any team knows about potential that never played out, it's us.

Probably sends a good message down the line that they trust the system to push them up, even if you aren’t a hanson fan its what the club should be doing, no ponga and brown really hampers the knights so would be more worried with a convoluted solution to a simple problem
Agree. We have a ready-made replacement. He's been playing in the 6 jersey for his entire career. Played with Boyd for 2 seasons, the most obvious answer is the right one.

This'll be a challenge

2 unbeaten teams, our first away game. Both teams missing their starting half and fullback.

I rate our pack and bench to get over theirs.

Oddily enough tho if u had told me a few months back i should feel confident going into a match with a spine containing Taine, Tannah Boyd, and Luke Hansen......i wouldve said u were nuts.....yet somehow i do.
I gotta disagree. We should really wipe the floor with the knights. Raiders and Roosters are the real deal. Both should be competing for a top 4 spot. Knights beat 2 teams who should be competing for the wooden spoon this year in both cowboys and the sea eagles. And after watching both games, losing both ponga and brown is a lot more impactful to them over us losing both CNK and CHT. Has all the markings of a banana skin game.

let’s all just remember Luke only turned 22 last month

Big occasion for the kid

He looks like a Tannah prototype

Hope big brother Tannah and the pack looks after him

And you can bet his management have told him he only needs one big game to get clubs talking.

I'm nervous about the game, plenty of quality in that side (but the same can be said for Roosters / Raiders).

I'm excited because clearly Hanson is ready, but we don't know how good he is. So a guy who's ready gets a chance to prove himself. Always a good spot to be in.

there's no comparison between the Newcastle roster and Roosters/Raiders. It would be an immense disappointment to beat 2 contenders and then lose to last year's wooden spooners. Knights have undoubtedly improved but this is still a game we should win. Anything less is a disappointment.

The pressure is squarely on us. Knights at home have nothing to lose - lost two best players and if they beat us it will be a massive feather in their cap.

Remember last year when we almost bottled it and Leka had the try from the end of the earth after the buzzer?

McDonald Jones stadium is a hard place to play and their fans will pack it out.

If we truly are contenders, we go up there and systematically dismantle them in a ruthless, efficient way. Basically tackle them into submission and let them play from their 10m line all day.

We have plenty of points in us but discipline and controlled aggression through the middle will get us home.

Barney coming back is huge - especially as his family is close. With him on the bench, the middle phase of the game becomes crucial and where we run away as their bench is lacking firepower.

I’d take a 28-10 win here. Clinical ruthless dominant.
