On the verge of the historical Anzac Day match in Christchurch, the One New Zealand Warriors and Venues Ōtautahi jointly disclosed an enhanced deal. This agreement will keep the Warriors playing at the new One New Zealand Stadium for the upcoming three years.
The extended partnership signifies that the One New Zealand Warriors will be bringing a home game to New Zealand’s second-largest city for at least five more years. The accord initiated last year with the Warriors’ game against Canberra. This was followed by the imminent match against Newcastle; both games were sold out weeks ahead of time.
A Long-Term Deal
“When we began our partnership, we were determined to make this a long-term agreement,” expressed One New Zealand Warriors CEO Cameron George. The outcome is excellent for everyone involved, for our club, our fans in the South Island, the city of Christchurch and the surrounding region. It will feel like home for us having the One New Zealand Warriors playing at a stadium bearing the name of our incredible sponsor, One New Zealand."
The team is thrilled to announce that they will play there for at least the next three years, with the intention of extending it further. Along with the NRL matches against the Raiders and the Knights, the Warriors also sold out their trial against the Storm in Christchurch last year.
Extending the Partnership
“We couldn’t be happier to extend our long-term partnership with the One New Zealand Warriors for an additional three years,” said Venues Ōtautahi CEO Caroline Harvie-Teare. The last three fixtures of the Warriors in Ōtautahi were sold out, and we can't wait for the passionate South Island rugby league fans to enjoy the Warriors' three NRL games from next year at the appropriately named One New Zealand Stadium. Venues Ōtautahi and the One New Zealand Warriors have a remarkable partnership."
The upcoming Anzac Round match will mark the 10th NRL game the One New Zealand Warriors have played in Christchurch. The Warriors have previously played NRL away fixtures in the city against the Sydney Tigers, the Wests Tigers, the Sydney Roosters, Penrith, and Manly Warringah, followed by the home games against Canberra and now the Knights.
