Yeah they don't have much choice, maybe a reduced penalty if there's serious doubt he even said it, but optics will dictate he won't play for awhile.

Sorry i should have pre faced my blurb with an "if he is found to have said it", i thought that was implied, my mistake.

Their going through the investigation now, if they cant find proof and he denies it then no case to answer.....but if they can....then enjoy the nice break your going to get Mr Leniu.

Perhaps, even if there is no audio recording of it being said or if a ref can't consolidate Mam's claim (You would have to assume a ref wouldn't have heard it, otherwise Leniu should have been sent from the field), maybe the NRL twist things as Leniu bringing the game into disrepute with his post-game comments regarding such a serious allegation?? He still gets a suspension, but at least it isn't a suspension over a he said she said?

I'm just tossing shit out there, but if anything it will be messier if it can't be proven.

That’s pretty solid reasoning and I can see it happening. He does carry on like a pelican but I personally think it’s good for the game. This is right up to and probably crossing the line however.

His comments after the game made it worse than it had to be if there's no evidence. Even if he denies he said, he basically called them out to come see him and do something about it. Imagine there ended up being a fight in Vegas with multiple players arrested. That could've fuked up what is a deal worth at least hundreds of millions I'm guessing. It would've been all over the local(usa) news. Sports teams come to Las Vegas, end up fighting in hotel and arrested. Locals definitely wouldn't have taken kindly to that and neither would the NRL.
