I haven't seen enough of the fellas, but is anyone being as bold as to have him locked in to the game day 17 from Rd 1?

Or do we have to hear how he's training the house down first?

Either way, I'm excited!
Personally I'm not interested until I see him pounding those dunes at Bethells!

I don't think you can make any calls this early though. Might look like utter garbage in the trials, might look a world beater.

I think what people are not understanding is that Cappy and Mcfadden didn't wake up one day while sitting on a pile of the most exciting Forward prospects in the NRL Nursery and go "I know, lets get a guy we can put in cup as depth to compete with EIT, AFOA, TSS......and here is the real shit kicker.....lets get an up and comer from England.

Not having a go.

Just saying all this NSW cup talk makes no logical sense at all, that would be nuts from us to buy this guy given what we have. Well at best you would call that taking a punt. CLubs with backrow stocks like ours don't take punts.
Tbf the club did do that with BMM. Albeit a different recruitment guy. Shame he never kicked on.

Something else I noticed in the build up to the game, there was the usual analysis and pre game stuff, Sam Tomkins was one of the commentators.

Gannons name didn't come up as one of the players to watch. So he didn't seem to have much of a profile, and all I have read about him is he has been out of the game a lot injured.

Genuinely a emerging first grader in their comp then, not an established name, more a kid that has a bit of hype for what he could be than a player that is established?

Hard to say, they were certainly praising his game in that first half, rightly so, he was a good watch.

I am genuinely excited about his future, but i know there are so many things that can go wrong. He might hate it here. He might get injured. He could lose confidence, who knows, he is young.

But Webster is a father figure to him so he will be fine I am sure, and when he starts throwing balls putting our boys away.....and offloads at training, and hitting the gas up in support....he will turn heads at Mt Smart preseason.
I certainly remember Sam Tomkins, you talked him up like he was Billy Slater combined with Lockyer before he joined lol

As for this dude we'll see.....always tough to tell how a guy will make the adjustment from Super League to NRL. I hope he's a Morley or James Graham but time will tell.

Sam Tomkins would have done well at a club that defended better that is for sure. Tomkins should have accepted the offer from the Storm. And he should have played in the halves.
His speed was gone when we got him, legs were shot, and he was a broken man defensively avoidant.

Still he provided some amazing ball movement as I predicted he would and lit up our sweeping attacks like no other player this club has seen with the ball.

But let me make it plain for the thousand time. I have not talked up Gannon. I dunno if he will thrive here or struggle.

He is a good player for his age, ergo it is about potential rather than what is evident at aged 21. Sixty plus fg games at twenty one is pretty decent.

One thing I will say in his positive column, it is so obvious, he passes the ball, who does that in our forward pack now?

He ain't Morely or Graham btw, he is not a mongrel. More of a Tawera Nikau type of player, rangy, passes the ball, steps, can hit a gap onto a ball at pace.
