Ýou have this spiel every single coach the Warriors have hired.

Been reading you for years.

At what point do you wake up and start asking why the same problem occurs across a million coaches.

At what point does the maths kick in for you and you understand the sum is not the coaches, the coaches are not all the same person with all the same faults.

The fault lies with the player raw material in NZ.

I know people fap over your posts but about time someone no bs like me called it straight.

You have this holy status for being close to the players, a fan legend at an insular south Auckland club. Yeah ok that's great but let me give an external voice to your hugely biased mixing with players and their families .
.

News flash, some of our super talented junior stars are fat flogs that prefer pies to NRL careers and were addicted to the camera and Try celebrations.

Sometimes, in fact many times, our players are the problem which is why no serious NRL club tries to snap up our (according to you talented failures that our coaches ruined).

If your blame of the coaches held any weight the NRL would be lining up to snap up all our failed talents and ready to turn them into the super stars that they should be.

No one wants the failures from here mate coz they cannot cut it in easy street at Mt Smart which means they sure as hell ain't gonna cut it in the pro clubs....coz they are frankly duds.
Never one to hold back 🤣
U raise some interesting points though tbf.
Let me ask u this mate- so far it’s all been on the coaches and players but how much of it do u think is due to the systems they come through before they even get to the club?
My son had a footy training today- it was at a bjj gym and they spent an hour and a half doing wrestling.
He’s 9!
Are any 9 year olds doing that in nz? Maybe there is idk but my point is we have great kids in nz and I believe great coaches at the club but they're starting from the back of the grid.

Isn't a huge amount of development in NZ at youth level predominantly done by union and through the schools?

Yeah so a different sport… seems a bit of a disadvantage eh.
Bet they’re good at scrums and lineouts though…
Yeah, I guess there aren't any transferrable skills there at all...

Sorry but Stacey was so good he could turn a game we were getting a hiding in and pull off a miracle win against absolute legends in RL including a turn around win against Andrew the GOAT Johns Knights.

You are talking through a millennial hole in your arse if you are gonna talk down past legends like Stacey Jones for a bullocking forward like Leka.

Sorry but they aren't even in the same conversation.

If anyone in this forum claims what Leka has done so far puts him ahead of Jones, Ali, or Kearney, or RTS, or SJ, or Toopi or Vatuvei, so many names, so sorry but I call absolute fanboi mysticism bullshit.
Get Stace's balls out your mouth mate. You're probably the same crew the would be offended if anyone suggested Nathan Cleary is a better player than Andrew Johns.

Your takes on RL remind me of an old person that doesn't know how to work technology.

You know that old person who doesn't know how to open an iPhone. That's you.

Seems to be getting a bit personal here. Everyone here has raised some really valid points, so maybe agree to disagree on the contentious ones.

Back on topic, regardless of the past, I think the club is on the right track this time. In 2011 when we made all three GFs (U20s, NSW Cup, NRL) we had the talent but not the system to convert into nrl. I think we have the system this time as well with Webby. Not only a well performing NRL side but also a NSW cup and Harold Mathews teams that are flying. The key is to not rushing things imo. We may have been frustrated with Webby's conservatism last year in blooding young talent like Ali, Leka, Demetric and Jacob but I think in hindsight that was probably the right approach. No doubt we are going to see the fruits of that investment this year.

Can't wait to see how Leka develops this year. He's probably the most dangerous edge player we've had since Konnie Hurrell.

The problems do all begin in the system before these players end up Warriors.

The first problem is the lack of players by virtue of our local sport being tiny.

Next problem is the lack of resources, especially coaching, yes I did just contradict myself and borrow Mt Wellingtons coaching argument to explain the start of the problem. However at Warriors juniors level these players are exposed to serious resources, they are fully entitled to help themselves to be better than we have been getting.

The other big problem is clearly the scouts the Warriors are reliant on locally. They keep getting beaten by the Aussie clubs for the best players coming out of NZ.

I guess I overreacted to Mt Wellingtons post, but quite frankly I am sick to death of the negative blaming of the Warriors Coach when to my way of thinking this is the best coaching team we have had, particularly Webster and his development guy Cappy.

I mean honestly if the worst should happen and Leka fails, these blokes have already convicted the Warriors staff before it happens....what if the player is an egg who won't toe the line? (hypothetical, nothing to do with Leka)

Tbh im not sure what the issue is here. I think everyone here has made legitimate points.

Our kids are behind the 8 ball before they even reach the scene compared to what they've already been exposed to in other systems.
Historically our numbers that actually kick on from youth teams are poor, and i think it can be put down to all of the above that posters have mentioned. Also i think some players have just reached their ceiling their talent levels have allowed them and no more amount of work is going to change that.

Dont follow the development side of the club that closely but it would seem we're doing better and are on a good track with the current regime with Harold Matts and co. Webster reminds me a lot of Cleary in the sense of not rushing youngsters in or just giving them a taste of things. I remember the calls and frustration of why Cleary wasnt rushing in the likes of Sonny Fai and SJ when they were tearing up the u/20s (tbf i was probably one of them)....looking back i think he had the way of it.

Anyway getting back to Leka, he has talent levels we havent seen in ages and we've glimpsed that in first grade already. Can only hope he stays grounded and keeps putting the work in but he seems a good kid, has good people in the club around him, he's going to have some playing lapses along the way which is natural (i hope people arent going to bury him the moment that happens)

Just really good and exciting to have a bonafide boom youngster on our books. My advice......just enjoy watching the journey

Thats me too. How dare you attack us!?
Just because you know how to navigate through Tic Tac , Instabook , Twatter & Facegram with ease doesn't give you the right to belittle those of us who can't 🤣(< Added to let y'all know its a dad jokes ladies)

Anyway, I hope Leka carves up this weekend!

One bye week and we start belting each other on here. We better not miss the eight or this will be an insufferable off season

Yeah maybe, I also think Stacey played when the league was less talented overall. Not sure if he showed that transcendent ability early on where you think he could be the best player in the league, but yes Stacey would be number 2 for me.

Tbh Leka could’ve debuted when he was 17. He was putting in great NSW cup performances at that age. They’ve done well to hold him back a touch.

But it’s also not about age but more ability at that age. Cooper Vuna was close to 16 when he debuted but I never really thought for one second he would be a star for us. Patrick Ah Van was freshly 18 and had the same thoughts with him.
some of these kids that came through back then gave me the impression that they were more worried about how they looked in the mirror lol
