He’s 21 years old.

So only a year older than EIT and Faitalofa.

Both EIT and Fatialofa are better players than Gannon right now.

Both these guys could debut right now if we were rebuilding. They are ready for first grade.

Chuck them Super League and they would be producing at a higher level than Gannon is currently.

I think you’re probably just being blinded by the shiny new recruit fallacy

So you believe that Super League is a weaker competition than the NSW cup.

Yeah ok, that is a pretty big fallacy of your own you're smoking.

He believes EIT and Fatialofa are more NRL ready than Gannon. TBH I think think they would be, they have been in the Warriors pathways for years now, and trained with the first grade squad last summer. They understand the systems. EIT is close to a debut, has been all year.

It's not like Gannon has been a starting back rower all season at Leeds, he had most of 2023 off and all of 2024, and cant get off the bench atm (didn't play last week, not sure if he's injured or dropped). I expect him to spend most of next season in NSW Cup.

I think we are splitting hairs TBH, Fatialofa is a gun and needs to be re-signed, let them all (Laban, Leka included) fight it out for spots over the next 3 years. The cream will rise to the top. This is good issues to have, exciting stuff

Off the tigers forum. He’s getting noticed

I’d take someone better than Afoa if available… But personally I would prefer his impact over say Bird who has been a Top 17 player all year … of course I have no idea if WT would make it worth his while to move countries for minimal money …maybe $350 k next year and then $400k when Bird leaves the following year …Doubt he comes here cheaper than that , or is worth more money…

I would be offering Charlie Staines a deal over Naden as depth …also would sign AD as depth … there is also Luke L who I have wraps on and Makasini coming through the ranks ..

We don’t really know where May is at … they do…so it’s hard to say how much urgency there still is at the position ..if he can get back to where he was he walks into the team next year …. It’s a big if at this stage …
Warriors have an absolute smorgasbord of young barnstorming backrowers in their ranks. This guy is gettable as on development deal and off-contract.

Kayliss Fatialofa - will still be Flegg eligible next season

Top 4 for tackle breaks & decoy runs in NSW Cup this season, 96% tackle efficiency.

Is this the guy you mentioned on your podcast yesterday @jrtiger @poopy_diaper ?

Yes Gannon is a bench impact ball playing lock, that is his zone, nothing to do with not being able to start.

Ăťes he had head injuries and that will be all behind him now we hope.

If you are both right Gannon is a complete waste of time, effort and money.

Think about it, who goes all the way to superleague to find a prospect in a position that they have stacked unless they believe the target in England offers something the others do not.

To me it is pretty obvious that Gannon is being brought over to fill Dylan Walkers shoes and be a relief ball playing lock when Erin Clark comes off.

EIT might be up for that role, but I don't see him, nor Fatialofa running into space with the ball held out in front of them with both hands looking for runners as an instinct.

I think people haven't got a clue about the ESL and the strong clubs like the Rhinos and the narrower gap between them and the NRL than you all imagine.

I never said that but I don’t think NSW cup is drastically weaker. A lot of the top Aus players in Super League would be playing NSW cup week in week out if they signed with an NRL team. There’s probably only a handful that would regularly make an NRL 17.

Plus you have EIT and Kayliss who are two of the best players in the competition this year and starting back row for the best team in the competition.

Versus Gannon who hasn’t been a top performer this year. His stats aren’t that impressive and he can’t break into the starting lineup for whatever reason.

Seriously, you could put Kaylis on the wing and he wouldn't look out of place! I think his immediate future should be at centre though.
Starting out in the centres would help get our best players on the paddock. Not uncommon either, as it has been done with the likes of Ben Henry, Lewis Brown, etc. - before they eventually end up in the second row. If Kayliss starts out in the centres, then as Laban gets bigger / slows down laterally (a la Niukore), he moves into the middle and Kayliss moves back into second row.

Although, that approach probably also depends on how Berry, Kali and Moimoi kick on (if they do).

We are going to need more than money to keep him. Other teams who are desperate like the Parra or the big teams like the Roosters can outbid us. I hope he has a heap of friends and loves the team and the culture.
