Well that sux. (been out of the loop all day only just caught up with this)

Cant help the timing and you dont blame the bro if theres family issues at play. But u sort of wish this happened at the end of last season so we couldve had a clear shot at a quality signing over the off season. Also i wonder if the club wouldve let Jazz go if they knew this was in the pipeline?.Plus it just sux cause i liked the energy he bought and the way he could change the tempo with some fast leg speed round the ruck. I dont think we have anyone on the books who can play that ball distributor 13 role that him and Tohu could.

God damn! The bald bro's, AFB, SJ, Tohu......that's 960 games of first grade experience we've lost in a matter of months! Chuck in RTS and DWZ and that's almost 1400 NRL games!!! Fark we're up against it....i think we're punching well above our weight where we're standing atm....and with all this disruption can only back the boys and wish them the best.

If we can snake a win against the pussycats this weekend that would be awesome.

We have quite a good mix of experience in Fish and Capewell. Leadership in Barney and Clarke. Youthful vigour in Leiataua, Vaimauga, Halasima and Laban. We also have a nsw cup team going good so it would be interesting who takes his place this week and ongoing.

Yes, a lot of experience, but it was probably too much. We had a geriatric squad, that was looking a bit slow and stale.

We could do with adding an experienced signing, and I would have loved for us not to have lost AFB, but JFH makes up for it, and we have a youthful, enthusiastic squad with the room to make some really good recruitment decisions to compliment the long-term strengths within it.

With us seemingly in a position to target some signing/signings are there any specific players or positions youd target to complement our current line up?

I think we need to overspend to get a quality outside back.

I'd like us to spend some decent money on a ball-playing 2nd Rower.

We haven't got premiership-winning halfs, but what are you gonna do?! We probably need a truly elite player somewhere in our spine if we are wanting silverware.

I think we are "good" in a lot of positions (hooker, fullback, top 2 wings). But "good" isn't enough to play with the big boys.

It would be a very Warriors thing to do, to go out and get a player for a position we are already stacked in...

It depends on where you see our young guys settling in long-term. I perceived the question as what positions would compliment the strengths we have. I see reading back it was what would compliment the squad we have.

I think we need a ball player. I'd like to move on a couple of 2nd rowers.

We've got another year after this one of Marata and Capewell being in the mix, Laban and Leka ready to go now, Eddie Ieremia-Toeava's showing all the signs of being a legit 1st grader in time, then we have the likes of Crosby, Kayliss Fatialofa, Lennox Tuiloma, Bishop Neal etc further down the pipeline hopefully able to fulfill their obvious potential if they're developed properly.

What I'm trying to say is that we should be able to get away with not spending big money on buying in edge forwards, that money should be spent on getting a top class spine as we know we struggle to develop in that area.

I can't disagree with that.

We need strike power, and I didn't see it coming from our spine, which still have youth on their side. I'm not convinced that the club invests properly here. Fullback perhaps, a half. I feel we are trying to get lucky on snagging a young half that develops rather than spend.

Codesports a couple of days ago did an approximate value of each teams squad down to value of each player in top 17 and how it compared to other teams. Warriors was in the bottom 3, after Dylans loss we might prob be last. It was an interesting article and compared how each squad was year to year (warriors players were under the cap by a fair margin in regards to talent and dropped in value by over a mill in the past season). Storm for example had assembled a squad that would be valued 4m over the cap if paid their actual value.

Ill drop the article in tomorrow if anyone is interested. Our top value players were JFH(1m), Barney (800k), RTS (600k). Marata etc were valued around 420k.

It very much says we have assembled a bunch of good/average players but lacks the star power. And probably overpaid for a lot if we are anywhere close (pre Walker release) the cap.

I think we need to be realistic despite our last couple of wins. We would be seriously over performing if we make the top 8 this year.

This is why I was so concerned about the NRL requirement to spend 97.5% of our cap on who we have. I'd love a breakdown of the realities of this.

Goes to show that Webby is doing a pretty good job and squeezing all of the juice out of the lemon though.

I will be interested to see if the Eels start him or play him off the bench.

When the interchange was brought in there was a lot of talk about specialist bench players. Utilities that would fit into various positions or would come on and make an impact. Besides the Broncos and John Plath I can't think of many. Maybe Hohaia for us for a few years.

Walker late in his career has accepted his role. A few years ago he was talked about again for Origin.

Good luck to Dylan in his future endeavours with the Eels, he was definitely a class act with us, and definitely made up for that time he scored a few tries against us when he was at Souths about 10 years ago (which I distinctly remember being very angry at 😅 ).
