No doubt Dylan Walker is a GC, one of my favorite recent recruits, but the more I hear players having to talk about culture and connection, makes me think there is a problem that they are trying to talk themselves out of.

People are reading to much into the fluff pieces.

Saying about the great new culture is the same as saying it’s the ‘toughest preseason ever’.

Just hype and building interest in how prepared the team is rather than aimed at past problems.

To be fair, most sports journalism is very thin these days.

Off topic but I recall my Sister messaging me asking if I had seen the article of Wayne Bennett talking us up.

All I could think of was "well what do you expect him to do, roll up to Mt Smart and tell all and sundry his team is going to smash us" - which they did

We still haven't nailed everything for an entire season. If it's culture then ok.

1. Barnett/Clark share 13 and bring another prop onto the bench
2. Clark/Ale share 13
3. Promote Leka/Demetric to lock
4. Try to replicate the ball playing ability of Walker with someone like TMM/CHT/Healey

It will be hooker cover in Healey coming on to the bench eventually, surely? - but yeah in the short term you'd have to have TMM come in in some capacity (Healey coming off an injury and young, and TMM absolutely gunning it in reserves)

Walker was a ball player who could cover a number of positions . Of that list to me there is only 1 ball player who covers multiple positions , CHT. Ale is injured and Lussick is not up to it - does he want to return to Aussie on compassionate grounds. Healey's time will come soon. TMM was named at 18TH MAN!

You have to laugh for poor old Ale. Largely been killing it in Cup, ends up having a 6 or 8 week injury on the weekend and this is when Walker gets released.
Imo Ale would likely have been the one to benefit from this, but now he's not able to.

Poor fella.

For me, we have to look at Healy. Waydes been good the first few rounds but imo we were going to have to squeeze Healy on the bench after the bye as Egan probably can't play 80 every game, so this just makes it a bit easier.

Or maybe Laban to edge, with Marata taking Walkers spot on the bench?
