Danii Gray is the first player signed on a development contract.

Development player Danii Gray, an Auckland Girls’ Grammar School product, has been an age group representative as well as playing for the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles in the Tarsha Gale Cup (under-19) in New South Wales.

“Danii’s a talented half who, with the right attitude, has the ability to develop into a consistent NRLW player. We are looking forward to helping her realise her potential,” said Griffiths.

2024 Auckland Thunder Wider Training Squad Announced​

Auckland Rugby is pleased to announce the Auckland Thunder Development Squad for the 2024 Farah Palmer Cup season. This squad has been selected to nurture emerging talent and provide a pathway to the elite level of women's rugby in the region.

The Development Squad will commence training on Tuesday, 9 July, at Te Papapa Rugby Club with a start time of 6:30 pm. The squad will train every Tuesday and Thursday as part of their preparation for the season.

In addition to their regular training schedule, the Development Squad will participate in the following fixtures:

• Sat, Aug 3: v Waikato (Preseason)
• Sat, Aug 10: v Counties Manukau
• Sat, Aug 17: v University of Victoria (Canada)* (TBC)
• Sat, Aug 24: v Waikato
• Sat, Aug 31: v Counties Manukau
• Sat, Sept 7: BYE
• Sat, Sept 14: v Waikato
  

These matches will provide the players with valuable game-time experience and the opportunity to showcase their skills against strong opposition.
