One of our strengths was not lying all over them in the tackle. Our guys are getting up and off the ball carrier fast and to the refs instruction.

We did allow a bunch of six agains but not nearly as many as the Raiders who were trying to slow the play the ball down.
I love the way this has turned out for us - we were on the wrong end of that ruck situation around 2023-24 - then we made a an effort to lift out of there as policy (Kai Kara-France heading the training) - and now, completely coincidentally, 'V'Landy ball' is demanding similar from everyone... we have been ahead of the curve because of being shafted early in the piece

A lot of impressive states from the weekend. One that slipped by me as I was watching and waiting for the win to be secured. As 12-6 even 18-6 with the time remaining there was a chance they'd come back. The try after that secured it. The late ones were icing on the cake.

They scored first. Down 0-6 then we score 40 unanswered points.

I thought that was clutch, that Ford and Leka try (tries?) blew it out to 24:6 and 30:6 and demoralizes the opposition, where the last 2 years they'd play robot ball and have a heart attack last 5 minutes to win or lose by <6.

I thought we chose the right time to give away 6-again, when we were getting rolled a bit we slow them down to reset, kinda like jersey grab the fastest soccer striker on halfway to avoid a counter attack, whereas other teams were just lying all over for no reason

Let's hope we stay disciplined and get the better of the six again calls. If the referees keep at it teams will learn.

It will be exhausting for the players with how quickly the referees are expecting them to get off the ball carrier. The Roosters ran through our middle as TSS was slow getting across because he was exhausted. We should be prepared that this will likely happen again. Hopefully, we do it more to the other sides, tire out their middle and break through.

I like that the six again calls can break up the set for set grind. It is more when you don't know what they were for or when there hasn't been one for 20 minutes, and they all of a sudden blow 1-2 in a close game.

We had, what? Two or three games last year with scores like the last two games from this year?

It's funny, I just rewatched the chooks game, after rewatching the raiders game and I get why Webby acted so differently in both post pressers.

We were quite lucky with some of the bounces/calls in the chooks game.

We just flat out dominated and executed plans in the Raiders game.

I'm not saying we didn't earn the chooks win. I'm just saying the Raiders win felt better executed.

Ya we had some lucky or actually fair calls go our way in the first game and we slammed the door down instead of been polite, probably why people are saying it's storm/panthers like too

Sharks in between the Barnett-Metcalf injuries was the only 40+ point / 30+ margin game we had last year.

The fact we've already doubled that output in our only games so far is very lovely indeed.

Really hoping the bananas stay locked up in the pantry these next few weeks to really keep that confidence flying as we lead into the cursed Melbourne game in R6 🤞

We have every opportunity to beat Melbourne this season. Injuries appears to be our greatest nemesis.

Apparently the chap in charge of 'V' has acknowledged it as a fuck up.

I understand that green is in their branding identity, but blue would have worked; I'm pretty sure blue V more popular in this country anyway.
Yet in private the boss of V energy drinks would be delighted coz millions of Warriors fans were scratching their heads and looking into the mysterious appearance of a thousand Canberra fans.....Genius.....

Me too although not too sure about the intelligent thingie.

Interesting in Cricket Wrighty, I played right handed and the coach made me have a twisted grip on the bat especially driving as the left hand was more dominant and skewed the bat if i didn't correct
You are going to get a cricket reply from me. Strangely on this web site my rugby league posts are well listened to me yet I get grief and fierce debate about cricket and had to leave the blackcaps thread. All this despite the fact I am a self proclaimed expert on cricket. Anyway you have caught my eye from your story. When batting right handed they "Say" the left hand should be dominant and the right hand should only lightly hold the bat. At my coaching week with John Parker he taught us that you should be able to hold a raw egg in the palm of your right batting glove while batting and not break it while holding the bat and playing shots.
However I think all of that is rubbish having been an top order batsman with over 30 senior mens 50s over multiple decades. When you play a shot it is really your bottom hand that is always dominant despite what the commentators say about too much bottom hand etc when someone skies one. The bottom hand guides the ball into the gap and gives direction to the shot and secondly it is where all the power comes from. The top which according to all the cricket text books as dominant really just sits there and swings the bat in the general direction of the ball. It does hold the bat tightly though I will agree. Your story comes as no surprise to me Your top left hand really was truly dominant and prevented your right hand from aiming the ball into gaps and striking it true. Your coach sounds gifted to come up with that solution for you. I suspect driving remained a challenge for you and I suspect pull shots and cut shots came easily to you and you would have been a beast on the short ball.

Apologies for taking this off track this is the only post I will make on that.

No worries Wrighty and any forum for sport is a good forum

You are absolutely correct in that pulling and cutting and hooking were absolute strengths.

However, driving short of a length and a defensive prod to either side was always the death of me. Often early lol. Funnily enough, a drive off the back foot was ok as I had time to adjust the grip.
