Clark reaping the rewards of chasing NRLW dream

Brianna Clark has taken plenty of leaps of faith to chase her NRLW dreams.
Relocating from her hometown of Mackay to South East Queensland sporadically over the past 18 to 24 months to undertake any opportunity on offer, the gamble has finally paid off for the 26-year-old as she prepares for her first season in the new Gold Coast colours.
"I am very excited. It’s been a long journey," Clark said.
"It’s been about five years, but it’s starting to come to fruition so yeah, I’m pretty keen to get going now. It’s just starting."
'I’ve come down to rock and roll' - Clark
It's been a whirlwind of emotions for the middle forward the last two seasons; from the highest of highs - making her Origin and NRLW debut and starring in the inaugural QRLW decider to the lowest of lows - saying goodbye to family and friends and relocating down south, only to have the entire Telstra Premiership season postponed due to COVID-19.
But the bubbly wrecking ball has remained positive through thick and thin of the entire journey and is ready to rip after biding her time, patiently waiting for the pre-season to begin.
"It sort of feels a bit more real [now pre-season is here]," the Origin forward said.
"It’s been postponed and postponed. I went home went and saw the family and got some money together again.
"But now, I’ve come back down to rock and roll."
Clark is keen to step up as a senior member of the Titans forward pack.
Knowing the women's rugby league landscape, formerly playing for the Warriors in 2020 before joining Queensland's newest NRLW franchise; Clark is expecting the postponed season to be tough, especially for the defending premiers.
"From seeing all the team announcements, I think it’s going to be a tough year all year round. Every squad has got some insane players in there," Clark said.
"I think it’s going to be tough for the Broncos to back their winning streak up and I think we’ve got a lot of work to do too.
"But I think we’ll be good contenders this season."
As one of the senior members of the pack alongside a plethora of young and exciting talents, the Valleys Diehards enforcer is wanting to be a role model for the new Titans.
"I just want to set a good example at training and on and off the field," Clark said.
"On the field, I just want to work as hard as I can and I hope they’ll come through and help me out when I need them because I’ll be there for them."
Ahead of Round 1 against Parramatta before the big Queensland derby against the Broncos at Cbus Super Stadium in Round 4, the excited Gold Coast recruit is encouraging everyone to get onboard the Titans' newest team.
