Disappointed personally. I cannot stand Eden Park, both as a venue and as a Trust. They are an absolute leech on the Auckland Council and deserve to be left to wither on the vine.

Hopfully this is just the new normal traveling anzac game, and doesn't eat into the already low number of mt smart games we get a year.

Yep - not particularly surprised, especially if the Council came in with funding. Continues the trend of the club continuing to dud the Mt Smart faithful though.

I've heard lately that there are changes likely at Mt Smart which will give incentive to have more games at Eden Park. This will be for both Warriors and AFC to take finals and bigger derby/rival games there.
This is definitely the start of moving more games to Eden Park. And it has been on the cards for a few years, hence the purchase of the Full time bar.

Theres alot of event money getting splashed around.

I think the Storm would be box office... but they would need to give up their existing fixture.

Panthers is a shout, our game vs them in August at Mt Smart is already sold out.

part of why the Wahs fanbase is killing it though is because there were so many people around from the early days (or at least early noughties) who have stuck along for the ride forever, so newer fans are joining an established mode of behaviour not just taking over.

I'm not supportive of it I can just see the fight against a move some games or playoffs not being quite as staunch as the past.

Again, they're using league to save rugby union from its debts. But, on another note, it could be a stepping stone to show that the Wahs deserve a waterfront stadium if we keep putying up massive numbers. .

For sure.
If the NRL give us a decent opponent then that would make it a good idea.

Otherwise it is just the usual fob off if they give us the Titans.

I don't watch Union or Cricket, so never really got caught up in the Eden park is a Rugby ground thing, only ever been there to watch the League world cup and Warriors games in the sevens and NRL.

I didn't mind it there, atmosphere is good when it is full.
