General 2026 Team

Hearing about the scenario with Metcalf on the recruitment thread yesterday if there’s any truth to his reluctance to extend, it could make TMM’s extension for a season is to see what comes out of whether Metcalf sticks around? TMM was only given the one opportunity at 7 against the bulldogs, but I don’t see Tanah Boyd as anything but a back up in his time here

Stats wise, CHT had the 3rd best season from a half in Warriors colours in like the last 15 years or so.

Unless he's injured, he'll be starting next year there and rightly so.

Like every player, he has his limitations. But if he's able to offer solid defence, a reasonable kicking game and ends up with 20+ tries/try assists a year, every coach is going to keep a player who can provide that.

I'm going to harp on about this all offseason but just give Halasima the starting left edge spot. He can do damage on either side of the field & can step off both feet but every fend comes from his right palm. He's one of our best players so we need to make it a priority for him to play in his preferred position.
I would play him on the right side instead of Niukore. Laban left side when Capewell leaves.

My 2026 team on face value.

1 C N Klokstad
2 D W Zelezniak
3 R Berry
4 A Leiataua
5 R T Sheck
6 C H Tavita
7 T Boyd
8 J F Harris c
9 W Egan
10 J Ford
11 K Capewell (release)
12 L Halasima
13 E Clark

14 S Healey
15 D Vaimauga
16 J Laban
17 E I Toeava

Unfortunately I cant see it being better than this, other than perhaps Gannon on the bench. Its over for berry if he has another Injury plagued season. Alarm bells if Leiataua cant force his way to start by next season, hes got to be a better option than Pompey.

Niukore will become the Bunty Afoa of 2025.

Could do but whenever paired in NSW Cup & SG Ball they've lined up the other way around
I like the idea of Halasima taking over from Capewell. The right edge is renowned for its kick chase and EIT could come into the equation for that edge with the motor he possesses? Interesting last week in nsw cup he was played at lock, but has been selected at second row this week. There’s Laban to consider too plus Fatialofa as to who plays where

Did you watch it? I don't have a Bar TV subscription but I just assumed Going played Lock as he had more receipts, passes & tackles out of the 2

No I didn’t, just saw that’s how they lined up on the sheet. Did think it was odd, sounds like you’re right and they played where they normally would

TMM would be pretty ideal for us at 1 with a pre-season though....even put there in a trial game, and literally played FB for the broncos...eyes up football 2nd/3rd receiver imaging him there for all the balls CNK got out there...shame they can't work out how to use him with our attack
