Actually it turns out that arguing with random keyboard Warriors has been scientifically proven to do nothing for the advancement of free thought and free speech (source trust me bro).
In all seriousness it is clear without any need for proof that arguing with hateful people is very negative for your own health.
If it makes people feel better in their own daily lives, go for it. If it doesn't then block people without fear that your block on a random interweb forum will be the butterfly that creates the hurricane that destroys human thought.
And echo chambers are misunderstood, evolutionarily speaking, we would be solo apes that probably never made it out of the trees without them. There is benefit in finding like minded thought in of itself.
And lastly it turns out that there are some people that are just wankers....(true story, not normal masturbators like the rest of us, actual wankers).
J.P. is a great poster (not because I agree with him, he has shared some lovely stories about Sikh's and this is place is richer for it) when someone like that risks being banned because of some turd comments - blocking is probably better eh.
