True, every case is different but I wonder how many of those front up to Immigration and say, Hey I just over ran my visa can you help me?

In my experience with labour from overseas, the requirements for a work visa are stringent and any deviation to the conditions is taken very seriously.

I wonder though, how many of those numbers came in on tourist visas and never left

I worked for Customs and the joke went visa stood for vanished in South Auckland. I actually caught out a guy whose return tickets were well after his visa expired. Immigration gave him the chance to extend
