Of course it should be all of our business. A country's actions are communication - they tell you intent, who and what you are actually dealing with, among many, many other things.

There's too many things, that I don't have the time or inclination to spend searching so off the top of my head - Taiwan, Hong Kong, Belts to Braces, the imposition on their worldwide diaspora through their secret police, they're authoritarian etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc

As an ex boxer, Thats had more broken noses than hot meals. A broken nose can affect the width of your nose. Not the length of it. To my blind conspiracy eyes , Her nose looks considerably shorter in length. But then, I am blind. So its probably her lol

Well Taiwan and Hong Kong are both Internationally officially recognised as parts of China, even the USA State department officially recognises that and have done for decades.
Belt and Road initiative is positive for international commerce is it not?
I'm more worried about an FBI office in NZ than the imaginary secret spy police driving up house prices worldwide and Jacinta was an authoritarian, remember the vaccinated 1st class everyone else restricted freedoms remarks..

I suspect though that you have travelled a different path of information brightman. This isn't an either or situation.

My family and I visited Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'an, Chengdu, and Guilin. And it was one of the best experiences I've ever had. I never felt threatened. Customs were great. Had no issues getting in the country. Almost every person who came up to us , Asked where we were from. Offered to buy us food & drinks. Offered to be our tour guides and show us around for free lol.

We did encounter some inquisitive kids trying to scratch the brown off of my arm 🤣 our translator who is my wife's work colleague and good friend said the kids were wondering if it was dirt, Or if we live on the sun? 🤣 It was explained to us that these kids came from rural towns and had never seen a brown person. Then they apologised , Bowed and thanked us for the convo.

Compare that to our American trip(Texas) i was held & interrogated for 14 hours at the airport. Before being allowed to enter the country.

We had a few encounters with locals - I was called a Spic, Terrorist , Arab, word that rhymes with wigga. Told to go back to Mexico, Iran , Iraq , Even Africa!???? Wtf lol. Even though I told them I was indigenous to New Zealand and a Samoan. I got the, Same same from most of them.
It's not nice being a darker skin colour in America. Cut our 3 week trip into a 10 day stay. Come home early.

Wow a personal anecdote! What I was I thinking.

You’ve completely misunderstood my post. At no stage was I talking about individual people, but rather the state apparatus. Iran is a great example, extreme authoritarian govt, while the Persian people are incredibly friendly.

As for the US, I’ve travelled multiple times of multiple years with zero incidents, so maybe the problem lies elsewhere 👀

PS if you think Han Chinese aren’t racist, ask them about Koreans 😆
