Politics 🤡 Donald Trump

Oh and there is of course the attempted coup on Jan 6th that all his cult ignore.
I was reading a debate on here the other day about left and right political violence being as bad as the other. Possibly the case but I thought it was interesting that 7 million marched on their no king’s day over there, admittedly with 14 arrests but labelled an overall peaceful protest. Quite a contrast when considering the storming of the capital hill building and the threats to harm those inside. There is of course those like the recent assassin of that podcaster but their motives are largely complex

If the protesters had taken over capital hill in the Jan 6th insurrection, does anyone thing Trump could have ended up stayed in power?

I believe Biden won the vote and no matter what ‘tantrum’ was used, there was 0% chance the election could be taken by force. Even if Capital Hill was taken, the people wouldn’t have allowed Trump to illegitimately stay on. It would have been a step to far.

The troubling aspect is that he still hasn’t conceded that election to this day and to people who don’t know any better, the optics are that this guy has been dudded. It’s really not that hard and every single previous president has conceded. Unfortunately all running with a storyline of they stole that election off me does is gives the extremists ammunition to act on behalf of this guy like was the case on January 6

Might have been better for history if Trump took over capital hill and people were forced to stand against him. He wouldn’t be president now.

He came out of it without criminally charges and was impeached but found not guilty. If it went further and the rioters got further and he had the choice to join them rather than sit on the sidelines he would have ended up being hammered.

(It should be noted 10 republicans voted to have him impeached so when he actually forces their hand people will turn against him.)

This is where we are however we’ve gotten here and I can’t predict the future, but I think the world has every right to be very wary of this guy

China tariff cuts is good news. Yes there’s always a possibility of catastrophic outcomes, however some of you guys need to put realistic probabilities on them actually occurring. Probability of civil war in America - low, chance of nuclear war - low, chance of Trump getting a 3rd term - low.

I’m really not following why anybody wouldn’t be acknowledging these worst case scenarios and feel it’s like not addressing the elephant in the room. Nothing about what we’ve seen in either term from this guy is what you’d call conventional, or even normal. You’re probably right that all scenarios are a low chance of happening but when close allies such as Bannon are openly being mischievous or however you want to term it, why wouldn’t you acknowledge it with what we’ve seen so far? Hopefully the constitution has the overriding power that would shut down any attempt. To openly declare nuclear testing resumes after being dormant and a pact loosely abided by with the exception of North Korea, why? It really feels like we’re getting past she’ll be right. I really hope you’re right on all counts but to act like people are irrational for drawing these conclusions seems a stretch with the current state of the world

Well said Noitall.

It's very apparent the trajectory all this is on.

I acknowledge the possibility however the probability some are putting on those extreme outcomes is highly irrational. There are also good things Trump is trying to achieve - his methods might suck & there’s clearly extreme narcissistic behaviour underlying all of it, however my view is the bloke (as is typical with narcissists) wants to be liked.

We'll have to disagree quite drastically here - the guy is a monster.

Yeah I hope we don’t come to see it, not living there I do acknowledge too that some people there say he’s doing some good things but the track record of what I’ve seen to my eye with January 6 and his unwillingness to de escalate the situation and willingness to pardon, to which one that was pardoned has already threatened a political opponent and in further strife and hasn’t conceded a previous election all gives me a troubling feeling. To not acknowledge that this all is far from normal, to which some probably like just isn’t giving it the exposure it deserves in a lot of aspects of his presidency. We all have our own views and we’re entitled to those
