Defend what? That he was praying it wasn't someone from his state? That this tiktok person has interpreted that her way to fit her narrative?
Link without the tik tok person.

They wanted it to be someone from a democrat run state so they could blame the left.
You brushed over the fact he prayed it wasn't someone from their country also.

Maybe not a leftist plot to silence free speech?

What a weird, weird country
Yeah after seeing what was written onto the bullet casings the shooter must of been deep into 4chan style post irony meme humor. I no longer expect the avarage person/news story to get a clear motive out of this without it coming directly from his mouth as these kinds of people are allergic to honesty of any kind. And anyone that takes this kind of stuff at face value is going to be wrong. If you've ever had the displeasure of interacting with people from or even being apart of those early image boards, there opinions are like mist where it will morph into anything to ragebait someone else. Which i guess is nothing new since that place is a sesspit creating people like Payton gendron and Ryan palmeter.

Interesting.... Jacinda got applauded worldwide when she said "this is not us" after the Christchurch Mosque shootings but he gets done for saying he wishes it wasn't one of them.

What JA said was quite different to the Utah.
The official responses over in the states have been pretty nutty and only seeking to divide a pretty troubled country.

"We don't do this here" is pretty tone deaf considering what actually does happen in the states. Utah or not.
Shootings ARE common in the US.

ā€œThey are us. The person who has perpetuated this violence against us is not. They have no place in New Zealand,ā€

ā€œWe were not a target because we are a safe harbour for those who hate. We were not chosen for this act of violence because we condone racism, because we are an enclave for extremism. We were chosen for the very fact that we are none of these things.ā€

She was also criticised for it by sectors of the Muslim community.

So pretty stark differences in the rhetoric.

The AJ article wasn't so much focused on Ardern's words but on anti-Muslim sentiment in both Australia and NZ. It was also an opinion piece... so I wouldn't consider that a MSM reaction in opposition to her.
