Selzer poll gets it wrong - Iowa goes to Trump

It was considered one of the most reliable local pollsters around – but this time, Selzer has got it horribly wrong.
On Sunday AEST, Selzer delivered a shock prediction by declaring Kamala Harris was ahead in Iowa – which is not considered a swing state.
The bombshell poll instilled huge hope in the Harris campaign with Mr Trump winning Iowa easily in the last two previous elections, beating Hillary Clinton by a margin of almost 10 per cent and Joe Biden by 8 per cent.
But with Iowa now officially declared to Mr Trump, Selzer may no longer be seen as one of the most respected polls in American politics.

Let's assume it's over now. How have many people called this incorrectly? Are they in an echo chamber? Hopeful thinking? What is it?
Think it’s a combination of an exho chamber and some people are so narrow minded in their convictions that they can’t perceive an outcome that they don’t agree with.
Whatever way this goes it’s going to be chaos with either side so divided they won’t accept the result if they don’t get their own way

Also seems to be a thing where people are too scared to say what they really think and feel in public if it goes against certain narratives due to reprisals but when given anonymity it isn’t so much a factor

It amazes me that people will go to war with their closest friends and family, over absolutely souless egomaniacs who could give less of a shit about you after you give them your vote.

And in reality nothing really changes, even in NZ politics where u can get more than 2 terms there’s not really any time to do anything of lasting value before the opposition gets their turn.
