Politics πŸ€‘ Donald Trump

It does. The lower US dollar is what Trump was trying to achieve though.

It certainly does come down to perspective. As you mentioned at some point that America voted trump in on his immigration stance, this is how the country feels on the methods used with two thirds seeing them as gone too far. Similarly with what you’re saying here, unfortunately the voter isn’t privy to the method that will be used to achieve this and I’m not sure all who did vote for him would have done so if they knew his method was going to be to spike prices with tariffs and other methods. It seems a hollow victory when he had a lot to do with the prices trending upwards in the first place

He wasn't just voted in on immigration.

He also hasn't spiked prices from an overall inflation perspective. I think last inflation figure for January was around 2.5% i don't see any major spike under Trump? Since the highs of around 8% of the previous government it's been in the 2.5% to 4% range by the looks of it?

You also have to consider how bad the alternative democrat options had been in the previous 4 years and who they put up against Trump this time. People clearly weren't happy with those options at the time.

I haven’t looked into it, but if that inflation growth figure is y-y, then it was probably being compared to a very high prior-year base. And I believe TACO walked back a bunch of tariffs? I wouldn’t get too excited just yet.
Not getting excited, just providing a counter argument to Trump has spiked prices. Appears to be around 3.5% inflation January 2024 and 3.0% January 2025

Of course that's at a top line level and there will be ups and downs beneath that level

Interesting reading the comments and how even tho it may seem like its a friendly debate. That now, There is probably alot of resentment towards eachother because of our personal opinions/beliefs. Some believe the killing of women & children in Gaza is despicable! Sick! Some believe it's just casualties of war, Nothing to see here....

Some believe that the Hells Angles, Opps. I mean ICE Agents should be applauded for what they're doing. Because, Illegal immigrants , Especially people of colour don't belong their whether they're undocumented or have legal immigration status - lawful citizens.

Murderering protesters. Good of bad? Depends on which side you lean.

The ultimate goal here is to cause division. Elites love this. The whole world is divided. This is why I got rid of all my social media. I had family members disowning eachother over religious debates? Lol.

I choose not to weigh in and share my feelings on here most times simply for the fact that I don't want to catch feelings and have hate in my heart. Soft? Probably lol.

There is a Jewish/Iranian author - Avi Shlaim , He predicted this would happen. And its been building up to it for decades.

He quotes Eisteins the war will be fought with sticks and stones.
The phrase implies that World War III - Most likely nuclear. Would destroy technology, knowledge, and society, leaving survivors to fight a fourth world war with "sticks and stones".

Avi suggests that the sticks and stones phrase has nothing to do with a nuclear war. But mental warfare to cause division and that we would implode, And destroy ourselves. Disown eachother. Kill eachother. Sounds a bit far fetched ?

This is happening in America. They're killing their own now.

It will only get worse. Epstein files are going to incriminate some very powerful people. Expect the elite to go turbo mode with the false flag bs.

Thought I'd share this.

Very well said and probably needed to be said. I'm guilty of the negativity/resentment at times and probably owe @MrFrankWhite an apology for throwing a personal insult earlier in the thread. Let the frustration get the best of me and was probably a case of drinking and posting πŸ˜….

I thought Harris absolutely blew him out of water in the debates to the point he wouldn’t accept another and claiming Haitians eating cats and dogs. A black woman was a bridge too far but it’s the assassination attempt that changed things in my view. As the graph in the article I posted earlier shows that since days of covid it’s had its ebbs and flows and probably too early to celebrate and that the trend doesn’t do what has been doing and track the other way in the near future. Good on you for celebrating the wins though, you’re quiet on the subject otherwise

Harris was a terrible choice to run against Trump. And it wasn't because she was black or a woman. She simply wasn't up to it and was a continuation of what most Americans weren't happy with.

And again, it's not a celebration, just an observation.

I guess they thought the country would be smarter that they could line a female up against him, apparently it doesn’t sit well with him that he has only been able to beat female opponents he’s running against so perhaps a male was the better option? Fascinating she’s not up to it with what’s on display currently in the white house, going to take a long time if ever for faith to be restored in their government. On worldwide scale too, but that’s just my perspective

I think that is the problem. Instead of picking the best person they picked Harris. I mean she was VP to sleepy Joe that many were unhappy with due to what they allowed to happen under their watch. Yet in an interview when asked if she would have done anyththg different in the last 4 years she said no. She really had nothing. Trump has obvious issues. But he is doing what he said he was going to and the results so far seem to stand up. There are a number of things he is doing that are going to put the country in a good position for years to come IMO. Not an endorsement one way or the other. Not a celebration. Just my perspective.

If they had run Bernie instead of Hilary. But they would never do something as altruistic as that.
Hopefully mamdani continues making positive changes in new York over his term showing the dems there is a very real appetite for an actual progressive dem leader and policies.
Haven't had a deep read of this so not strictly attributing this statistic to mamdani but if this trend continues he will get the credit.

I just don’t see how America are in a better position when their traditional allies in UK and neighbours like Canada are moving closer to their biggest opponents in China and don’t see that’s putting their country in a better position for years to come. I think you’re right that there were concerns around their border under the previous administration and there’s been a view that other countries should contribute more to their defence but I don’t see the world responding to the art of the deal diplomacy anymore where bullying is the tactic. There are too many options with the world making their own pacts behind closed doors

Allies are only allies if they are both capable and willing. Otherwise they are dependents

It was down to 2.9% at the end of Bidens term.
