The Warriors would sever all ties with their Auckland heritage and adopt a new black and grey colour to better reflect the national name of the new club.
After the success of the club in the previous season making the Grand Final this jersey was sold by the tens of thousands and until 2012 was the most sold jersey in the clubs history.
There was no distinction between the on field jerseys and retail replicas except for the heat pressed number on the back of the match worn jerseys.
