Just what we need, more wealthy buying influence

Who says wealthy vote right?

A few famous lefties: Bill gates, Steve jobs wife, George Soros, Oprah Winfred, Peter Jackson, etc, etc

What predicts wealth? Research says personality traits like conscientiousness, risk tolerance and long term thinking. These traits show up across all political voters. A left-leaning entrepreneur and a right-leaning entrepreneur can behave almost identically day-to-day.

β€˜NZ is now a haven for the very people who have damaged the world’ what does that even mean? The rich simply = involved in lots. Those people you loathe are responsible for most of the positive progress in society that you benefit from.

Perhaps if the left weren’t so anti business people wouldn’t feel the need to rally against them, more than all wealthy being right voters.

Following on from your previous laser sharp observation, by voters, you mean men? And by business people you mean men?

I hope you're not going down the Marama Davidson school of world ills blame?
Surely you must have seen Wiz's pearls of wisdom I'm referring to?

1. His new best mate is a boomer, the mayor of Wairoa who thinks preparing for a cyclone and keeping people safe is woke

and

2. This gem was posted last night at 9.38pm, obviously he forgot to run it through chatgpt first

Not sure what the second part is about and I don't think Wiz gets on it like some others, can't say too much.

While it is all well and good to be prepared, some of the MSM pre Cyclone reporting was bordering on the Covid panic. Being told something is life threatening a few times and then it isn't can have a negative effect on people.

Forecasting is extremely important to us and when they announced it was downgraded to Cat 2 on Thurs we decided to just put on the wet weather gear and get on with it. The Met service app with the rain radar and the Windy App for wind direction and speed pretty much sums up what's happening without the rhetoric.

Big Dan on the TV1 Weather doesn't help. Erin is better. lol

It was a stormy day, not a killer event as the panic merchants screamed πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Next you will be demanding councils fence off all roads. Under H&S rules in a workplace this would be a requirement so in the name of eliminating all risk, footpaths need barriers in your nanny state world…

Stop thinking and assessing risk yourselves and let the govt think for you 🀣

2 - Tell me what Labour does for tradesmen, retail workers, tourism workers, hospitality workers, etc, etc.

Both parties seem to focus on office workers and public servants not middle NZ.

The greedy bastards didn’t even want to index tax rates to inflation, take as much as the can and choose where to buy votes. They don’t care about middle NZ.

PS if you can’t differentiate between all females and the subset of beneficiaries of fair pay agreements then I can’t explain it to you…

Wiz you are completely wrong on this subject.
People around NZ rely on the weather information and can make their own decisions. Farmers truckies seafarers fisherman etc
And just everyday Kiwis traveling to work need the info
State of Emergency means personal decisions on attending their workplaces
Just because a weather event changes course isn't the fault of the forecasters
Seriously it could have changed course in a different direction and become more damaging.
Prepare for the worst and hope for the best isn't a stupid thing

I don’t need 4 civil defence blasts on my phone. I got it the first few times… I will turn them off in future.

Heard the story about crying wolf?

What do you think about the mount still closed and nothing happening to reopen it?

Fair enough. The warnings are there for everyone and it's your prerogative to take notice or not

Haven't been able to get to the Mount since the disaster there so don't really have an opinion. I have been sent pics of the flooding in and out of Thames and the surrounding areas and homes
We really were lucky in Tauranga and we escaped most of the worst during Gabriel also. I think the Kaimais deflect the systems from coming inland.

Oh and litigation is the danger when it comes to the crying wolf issue

Yes JN, we have become a risk averse nation.

The original HSE legislation in '92 including the clause "take all practicable steps" (and the lack of definition) was a definite cause of it.
It was left to the courts to define and that caused a serious amount of angst in many cases as the issue of personal responsibility became secondary to blaming others.

We still haven't got over that to this day. White Island being a recent example

Our overbearing H&S legislation has directly lead to our high cost of living and low productivity in NZ.

It’s made us all poorer.

And no I don’t want people to die but its about opportunity cost and balance.

I remember an news article many years ago and the Christchurch City Council banning parents from a swimming pool of putting a towel around their kids and changing their swimming customes.
Everyone was furious with the Council and it seemed really strange
Turns out they had reports of a pervert in nearby bushes taking pictures of the kids
They were terrified of litigation
Legal stuff like this as only gotten worse since then

Mate you are truly obnoxious. I'll add selfish too.
Obviously you haven’t heard the story about the boy that cried wolf.

Research β€˜warning fatigue’ - it’s a real thing and leads to loss in trust in authorities.

Do we ever have a storm nowadays without weather warnings and Auckland Bridge being closed?

Back when I was a kid we walked 30km to school every day all uphill in blizzards and none of us ever complained.

Certainly making up for it now though Wiz. πŸ˜‰

Yeah, well, you weren't doing all that and carrying 50kg of coal and 20 litres of kero like we were either, softie.
