But your edge backrower slipping off and leaving your half still hanging on for life. Then the next try not wrapping up the ball in a regulation tackle which let them offload and score off the back of it.

Happy to never see him listed on an edge again, but that was clear as day last season already.

Need Capewell fit asap, Laban and Leka can share the right edge.

The definition of insanity is trying the same thing that don’t work repeatedly, what do you call it trying to repeatedly fix things that are working amazingly?

Are they just comforting Luke’s ego? I don’t know how Boyd or the team would feel watching this degrading, we just destroyed Melbourne for the first time in 11 years.

We’re quick to remember how shit he was last year and how good Metcalf was last year.

I’m still picking Boyd for the moment until Metcalf forces his way in back at 7 or maybe fullback.

Could be just Metcalf is more popular among the boys, so they’re all just siding with him.

With that extra bench spot, you’d be silly not to ease him back after last time. Doesn’t change that one or the other seems destined for the 7 jersey though?

I remember all the solo highlights, heart attacks PD of 1 and the 1 half of 24 pts vs cowboys, but I can’t take watching another 4 weeks of that and R4-5’s display to get the groove back, and then he pulls his calf and Boyd comes back and we go on a roll again and he gets pulled again

I think there’s a quiet narrative pivot of “hey CHT is the difference NOT Tanah so let’s try Met at 7 again!” When even Ennis etc were like conceding CHT/Boyd works best

It’s like we have built a Porsche and we keep trying the unicycle instead, impressive when working yes, but freaking hell hard work and face plant a lot

I would say we can’t really judge Boyd vs Metcalf until we see Metcalf at 7 with this team for several rounds.

In saying that I think with our current form Boyd is 7 and CHT is 6. if Metcalf is back he would be waiting for one of those spots, and as your not entirely sure to play from the extended bench it probably makes sense to play some NSW cup.

It’s a long season though so there will be opportunities for everyone.

I would much rather this discussion than having no depth and making Egan or trying to shoehorn a forward that can pass ok into the halves.

It's probably because Shaun can resonate with metcalf. But it's not what is best for the team at this moment and time.

Yea, not sure how people can so confidently right Metcalf off. Boyd has been playing well but to be fair, Chanel was the better half in both the games he played and he was the one that got cut.

SJ understands how the halfback either gets all the praise or all the blame without people looking at the bigger picture. You need players running good lines off you, communicating in D, killing the small efforts areas. One player doesn't control those things and they constantly vary week to week.

Looked awfully slow at dummy half. Absolutely no spring in his step and probably could have scored near the line if he had his old speed

Not saying he’s done because his experience is invaluable given the lack of spine experience but he’s not a game changer in my books

results speak volumes .. we lost badly, he played badly and to top it off got injured again from simply running .. not that hard to write off given this is a game that is won on lost on a small margin of error

I see EIT taking the role off Nuikore next year and depending on form it could happen sooner or later. Nuikore was average on D v Storm. When EIT got his couple of starts last year he was electric. His D is on point and had a high work rate. Nuikore has his new 3 yr deal and can see him winding down as season goes on.

Metcalf is not a proven player

Different league to Barnett and those that have earned their stripes

How many first grade NRL games has Metcalf played in his career?????
