Pick Your Team Gold Coast Titans v NZ Warriors - [Round 7, 2026]

I think the confusion was in the presser someone asked Webby about Tanner and he replied that he was unsure how serious it was. It took me a bit to realise who he was talking about. Note Tanner = 22 year old with the face of a 40 year old Tannah = 25 year old with the face of a 16 year old
I thought it was pretty clear he was talking about TSS. Maybe the Aussie journalists just assumed he meant TB because it's probably the case they don't even know who TSS is.

Team Tips: The Warriors will be sweating on the availability of duo Tanah Boyd and Tanner Stowers-Smith after they both sustained potential hamstring injuries against the Storm on Saturday night. Coach Andrew Webster confirmed post-match that he didn’t know the severity of Stowers-Smith but he was seen with ice on his hamstring and didn’t return to the field after being taken off. Meanwhile, reports from AAP indicate Boyd experienced hamstring tightness and the club is still assessing the severity of the injury. If unavailable, they will need to shake up their spine once again with Luke Hanson entering the team. Luke Metcalf and Te Maire Martin remain sidelined. Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad (neck) and Kurt Capewell (calf) are both a chance to be available for selection.

My mind jumped to Boyd but I got confused when he said they didnt talk as they were having a beer in the sheds together... so it took a while....

We have crazy depth and need to stop thinking about what we do in 2-4 weeks etc, take each week as it comes and pick on form.

1. TT
2. DWZ
3. Leiatau
4. RTS
5. AKP
6. CHT
7. Boyd
8. Ford
9. Egan
10. JFH
11. Leka
12. Niukore
13. Clarke

14. Healey
15. Vaimauga
16. Laban
17. Capewell
18. CNK
19. EIT

I’m assuming TSS is out and that capes is back. I personally prefer CNK to TT at 1 but I also prefer not to mess with what’s working, the team that played last night deserves to go again. Laban off the bench had his best game of the year. Ford needs to go 80 again, but capes can also spell Niukore who can then go into the middle rotation. If capes isn’t fit, give Gannon a go.
I like this team too. However, I am wondering if Leka on the bench and start Capewell is the go. Good option either way. I do like Capewell and CNK on the bench as they provide cover for so many positions.

Pretty sure the source for this is webby's comments in the presser. If that's the case it's probably just a case of mistaking TSS for TB on the journo's part. Seems very peculiar as TB never went off or showed any sign of injury during the game.

Would be pretty disastrous if the top 3 halfbacks are out at the same time lol

I still have a suspicion AAP might have messed up Tanner and Tanah, Fox seems to just quoted AAP

Crowd Goes Wild needs to ask Webby tomorrow, will be a slap to the face of multiple Aussie journos if they mucked up repeatedly

Some interesting takes around Pompey. I see people saying he’s our best distributing centre. What a low bar. World’s tallest midget anyone?

Apparently he also has a good draw and pass.
Would love to see the plays where that’s happened.

And then I see ‘don’t trust stats’.
So we should trust opinions I guess. Is there some kind of hidden impact he has on games that don’t reflect in the stats?

The argument of ‘would he make any other NRL team?’ get used against other players, can we honestly say he would make another team?

The centre position revolves around acceleration now. You don’t even need youth, the best centres are ones who can accelerate quickly on both ends, creating over laps and covering on defence. It’s why someone like Dane Gagai still goes well, he’s has good acceleration.
Pompeys most glaring problem is his lack of pace at all.

I think (back to opinions) that’s why we looked more solid with Roger there on the weekend. He still has the ability to accelerate quickly and cover space.

@Dannevegas don’t worry, you’ll never take the top spot for Pompey slanderer.
Guy is a Bunty Afoa type, too good for NSW cup but not quite a first grader either.

I often get the feeling these days, whether the case or not that these sorts of posts are directed at myself being someone who’s often defended the guy? Perhaps I’m putting too much weight that anyone cares that I’ve defended him and see warriorholic was someone of a similar view, which made me question my own view. I defended the guy amongst the Berry superlatives that had him as the greatest centre to walk the earth at the time and feel Pompey has shown in his availability alone that he has benefits. Perhaps a low bar but think it’s important to also consider the calibre of centre that he often keeps quiet and personally do think he’s our best distributing centre whether others agree or not. I’m the first to admit his limitations and he is slow, that’s a fact. Your eyes aren’t deceiving and I’ve also always made my view clear that I think he’s keeping the place warm for Leiataua. Though all evidence makes me think right centre is better suited to Leiataua? Apologies for the essay if I’ve been paranoid over your post and I’m not trying to change your mind, but more conveying why my view is what it is

You’re entitled to your opinion mate and don’t ever feel the need to defend it. Rather than tag the people it was more of a general reply to the stuff I’d seen in the thread. If I ever do want to go back and forth I’ll tag you 😉.

All good, cheers. And not trying to pour cold water on your or Dannevegas’s view and it’s all light hearted my joking with Dannevegas about Kali or Norris. You can contact me for an application for your Pompey fan club membership whenever you want

Imagine the left side kick chase of AKP and Berry. That has enough speed to be competing for every high ball.
RTS has the stopping power to be great defensively inside a more agile winger for the mean time though.

Because I'm not an idiot and base my decisions solely on the last 80 minutes
Good problems to have. Pompey has come on over last 2 years, he'll never be the star Roger was... but neither will Roger. Awesome that Ali is making it harder to drop him too.

For me Pompey passes And tackles... maybe he sets up AKP more than Roger would... I think likely left side will be conservative rts-pompey. Definitely diffificult to drop anyone after the last game.

Bout of course, pomps suspended...

It's really RTS vs AKP cuz if they play Pompey they are not gonna drop Roger.

RTS has the explosiveness maybe they can try open him up 1 vs 1 in our half early tackle count and when he makes a half break/break he can give it to AKP to finish it.

That and if he can pass.........if he can do it this week then Pompey becomes specialist back up both sides of the edges

Good that we get another game to see if it's blip or what's happening with him
