Niukore and Laban combined for 10 missed tackles and a massive 48 metres. That is absolutely pathetic from 2 edges. Both need to pull finger.

TSS and Healey looked good. DWZ looked more like his 2023 form which was promising.

CNK and Metcalf were abysmal. I don't wish injuries upon anyone but now we'll be back to our best lineup.
Yes, I really like CNK, a really nice guy ..but no way is he good in that centre role ... looking forward to seeing CHT back in the team -ever since Metcalf has come back we look much more dis-org .. so prob win next week

You do know defence is why Ali got dropped right?
But his omission has not automatically fixed the centre issue we have.

Charnze doesn't do it for me. I'd back Ali to step in again after being chastised to cup. I think though that at this point he is still a way off. But Shirley Charnze doesn't get another opportunity there next week?

Metcalf obviously finding is feet but shit it would be hard to argue Boyd was better than him today....

@FormerlyJamesW what do you think was the issue?

Same thing as last week. The boys are all out of whack.

You know my thoughts about Metcalf overriding Boyd.

Boyd was doing well this year, as he had a preseason training to be the dominant half (for the start of the season, atleast).

The boys trained with him and got in sync with his playstyle.

Metcalf comes in, however talented may be, and muddies the attacking structure.

Clunky attack leads to frustration.
Frustration leads to mistakes. Mistakes leads to defensive lapses.

This is only my opinion, of course and next week (assuming Metcalf isn't playing) we will find out if my little theory is correct.

Wonder if that’s attitude from being demoted from FB?

Hope not. Probably ptsd but I am always suspicious of this phenomena at our club.

Today was as close as I have come to thinking we look like a "coach has lost the dressing room:" Warriors outfit. Not fingering everyone here, just some of the seniors Like Charnze, Luke, and even Roger. It just looks like half the seniors aren't excited to go after it.

Like I say, it is prolly just ptsd....but two out of three of those blokes is being asked to give up their (air quotes) spots in the team and the other is off to England.

They just look flat, disinterested, and like they're going through the motions.

Which kinda pisses me off when you see blokes like Tanah whose job really is on the line, having a tough game, struggling in parts, but trying stuff.

As for the that right edge defence, it just goes to show how much we rely on players like Capewell to guide the defence and clean up.

Did I read he is fit for next week? Otherwise Gannon has to come in there and cover, we need people that want to win (poor Gannon but hey someone has to play next to Boyd with some lateral movement).

If Metcalf was playing next week and even if Charnze was fit, I would drop Charnze for CHT and play him in that slot instead of Gannon for CHTs tackling, I know that sounds desperate but we are desperate.

What you are seeing is a difference in foward pack domination. Its easy to blame that on the halves for a casual fan.

I actually think metcalf has effected boyd by not doing enough.

CHT would override and offer an alternative option but metcalf atm seems to just be at the end or middle of the shape and falling into line instead of releasing pressure on boyd

Properly demote them if they need it. Having players who want it is vital. Player's who don't lie when they say "whatever position coach wants me to play I'll do it."

I wasn't ready to sack people but I'm actually considering Koro Capewell at centre. 🤣🤣🤣

One positive is that we only leaked 36. I know that's bad, but at different stages of the game it could have easily been 50+ if we had given up. There is still potential in this group to do well. There might just be a little pain before we sort out the backline and get the balance right.
Well said.

Yeah I was actually pretty impressed with how we steadied the ship after a Webster talk at half time. While not nearly good enough we corrected the worst edge defence seen in the NRL this season by anyone (it was embarrassing like we had named all our NSW Xfactor backs for lols and thought that would win us an NRL game).

As others have said our forwards worked hard in stages with Tanner a stand out.

If I was a back, I'd be running away from JFH right now. The entire pack must be pissed that their work in laying a platform is continually getting undone by these long-range breaks we are conceding due to the backline. CNK is an easy target for this game but Pompey ain't much better on the other side.
Pompey needs to hire a Nanny, pretty obvious the night time feeds with a bubba have cooked his brain.

Been there. As have most, thank gawd that is over and they are all grown up, it is bloody murder, even if it is not your night to get up.

Not my take on things. Boyd was trying to shake things up all game. He seemed to get to dummy half more often than he should. His long kicks were easing the pressure a fair bit. He, TSS and DV were the best on the field in my books. LM, RTS, CNK very ordinary.

Yes Sir Arrow I felt CNK and RTS had Barry Crockers. But you need to win anyway as each week some players will be strong and others have an off day. I felt starts to sets deep in our half were weak and we didn't make good metres all game. I also felt once we fell behind that we chased the game by trying to score off every set,

Yes we absolutely resorted to catch up footy. To be fair it was partly a case of having to chance our hand, however we are a much better side when we dig in and grind our way back into games.

The big picture is that we need to be able to play catch up footy, length of the field footy to compete with the big three counter attacking sides in this comp (but there is no point in doing that if you don't earn the right) bottom line, the reason we cannot just spread it and burn sides is that we lack the speed and accuracy....

We badly missed Capewah ...FORD getting gassed as other FORWARDS are lazy as FUCK ....least TSS stepping up .. have we got any decent backs to come in outside CHT .. rocco is he still broken
