Current Affairs πŸŒ‘️ Weather / climate change

It’s called… a storm. Always had them, always will.
You are an identified climate denier wiz, you sit within the spectrum on the right who deliberately downplay the impact the brand of politics you believe in is having on the world.

And like evs you'll switch all of a sudden to saying "Oh well, it's all about mitigation now"

You and many others in this forum, all of the same flavour, the same spectrum.

Anthropogenic (man made) climate change

In 2023, as a response to Cyclone Gabrielle and the 2023 Auckland Anniversary floods, the government passed the Severe Weather Emergency Legislation which changed the settings at which the council/civil defence have to call for a State of Emergency. Does this graph indicate an increase in weather events or that the new settings are working? Personally, I think it's a combination of both.

Bang on. We have state of emergencies declared because we might need than, not once their is an emergency.

The opinion of a libertarian act party climate change denier
Never denied climate change. I just think its something we roll with and adapt to like humans have done since forever.

Sea levels rose by 100m 10,000 years ago and humans adapted.

Some people can live with uncertainty and change while for others it freaks them out…

Some people can be absolute right wing shit stirring cunts and take smug pleasure in the world's misery that the ideologies they believe in have caused.

So much suppressed anger. Have you ever thought that maybe debating with people that think differently from you isn’t your thing?

Are you an only child or something bro?

This is using a fact but represented in the false way.

10k years ago, we werent a society. There were no farmlands that fed 10s 1000s of people. There were no buildings or permanent houses.

Sea levels rising a few meters in the next 10 years would be devastating to a country like New Zealand. Adaption requires time, NZ would collapse as a country.

Agree with all this. Humans will always have challenges be they climate, health (pandemics), war, economic, etc.

I have faith in humans to adapt.

Sea level rise is slow (4mm per year). It will encroach slower than the 50 year life of a building in most cases.

I can handle putting a layer of bricks along my front boundary every 20 years 🀣

By 2300 everyone will have secondary gills, a dorsal fin and support the Sharks

I watched that doco on the Tohoku quake and Tsunami several times and still amazes me how many people survived considering the magnitude. Anecdotally waves of 40m were supposed to have been seen.
Did you know there was a wave coming when you were in Samoa?
