General Warriors Preseason 2026

I’m still of the opinion that Boyd & Metcalf are our best half options, if they can make it work. They’re both 7s, so it could be a case that they’re over calling & it just doesn’t click. But I think if they can, then we’d have long kicking options both sides of the ball
With them both being right footers, who would you play on the left, & therefore reducing their time to kick as a righty? Metcalf's kicking as our right side half was miles better than what we'd seen from him on the left in '23 & '24. If he was your choice then Boyd would play left & would be tackling on his non dominant shoulder. His favored right shoulder is weak enough as is

I initially liked the 6 man bench concept but it would mean, unless their NSW/Q Cup team is playing the following day (& in the same country), up to 32 professional league players won't get a game each weekend. I think our NSW Cup are set to be the curtain raiser in 13 of our match this season so that'd mean bugger all footy for some
I thought there may have been the opportunity to run 6 players over 8 interchanges as opposed to using 4 of the 6 players on the bench only.

CHT would be a better option at 14, but personally Healy surely has to fit into the team at 14 that would push CHT to 6 for me.

I agree the first 8 weeks will probably decide who is resigned out of CHT / Boyd / TMM and probably Taine aswell
If we can only keep 1 Out of those 3 halves i prefer CHT for being youngish and solid and covering so many positions.

Regarding Healy I think it’s hard to have him on the bench unless Webby starts to rests Egan after 55-65 minutes. ….or maybe he can spell Clarke? I think best for the club is to start Healy whenever Egan is moderately banged up instead of totally banged up (ie every 2 of 3 ) games…

Really looking forward to March so I am less tempted to post speculative drivel.

Im trying to think of it like 24 were we all were confused why the younger players were on the bench or getting limited time. He played a few last year and Egan probably is best as the 50 minute hooker.

Lets he honest tho even march kick off will not stop the speculative drivel

As an amateur paleoanthropologist I must say that nickname is a winner. Good chance Egan misses games, Healy will get his shot i recon.
